Paul Millsap on the trading block

I loved Millsap when he was with us, but ... no... just NO! This ship has sailed. I wouldn't envy the team that gives Millsap his next contract.

Here are the two options if you want to trade for him:

1. Lose him for nothing in the summer?
2. Get into luxury tax and give him 40+M going into his mid-30s in order to keep him?

I honestly don't know which one is worse ...

Shouldn't have let milsap walk in the first place. I would have taken Paul over the last 6 years of Favors any day.

How much is a half-season rental of Millsap worth to yall? Could we contend this year with him in the fold? I'm sorta serious.

I say this, if we think we can make a serious run for the finals this year, if we took Millsap and Korver for just that run, it might be worth it. But over the long haul, I don't think so. I don't think we're ready, but next year, barring more injuries, we will be glad to have kept Favors and Burks. An elite 3-point shooter and foul shooter like Korver would be a huge asset. Because of Derrick's injury he may not be right until the end of the season, and Millsap playing with Hayward and Hill, would be like a mini-Big 3. But it's a gamble and doesn't consider the future. Next year is when the Jazz will be ready to make a run for it.

Favors for Millsap and one Hawks future unprotected first rounder

or Favors+Burks for Millsap+Korver+two Hawks future unprotected first rounders

No. I have not missed him on the team. He was okay when he was here, had some good moments but I'd rather have Favors. And I'm glad Millsap was not retained.

Raptors should definitely go after him. Assuming they could keep their core players that would be a really good 1-5 lineup with Millsap.

I think they question is if the warriors sustained an injury to Durant or Curry would our team plays millsap have a punchers chance? I think it is in the realm of possibility. It depends on the price but if it was the warriors pick and diaw I'd consider it... they should have better offers though.

My initial thought is it would cost us favors but it wouldn't have to... just tell favs we want him off the bench the rest of the year.

It would have to be a rental though... not signing him to his next deal... I don't think it will be a crazy deal but it won't be a good value at all.

Weird. The Hawks are worried about losing him for nothing, and might trade him. Wow, what a crazy idea. Thats not very smart. You are supposed to let all your assets walk for nothing.

If his three point shooting was closer to 35% I'd say yes we could, but I don't think he brings enough stretchibess to change things enough.

It's worth exploring though.

I dunno.

Nope. Did the whole talented yet undersized PF/Center thing from 07-2010. It got us nowhere in the end.
That was in an era where a giant sized Bynum, Gasol, Odom front line of the Lakers dominated the league. There are no teams like that today.

Surely we could trade Favors for something better then a half year rental of Millsap assuming the front office decides Favors doesn't fit.

He's peaked. He will only go downhill from here as a starter. Millsap is the type of elite 6th man, pretty good starter you cant overpay.

Sports Illustrated had him as #15 best NBA player in last offseason. With Sap Jazz have a top ten (Gobert) a top 15 a top 20 (Hayward) two top 25 (hill an Hood) to start plus Burks Mack Ingles Boris Whithey Joe killer bench.

I think that team could scare GSW who has 2 of the top 5 players in NBA plus top 15 (Draymond) top 20 (Klay) an veteran Iggy.

Two bad shooting nights an Jazz best GSW.
