Pelicans Game Thread

Just one game...

Oh wait, hayward kicked it up a notch and looked like an allstar? So we won???!!! Alright!

I like the way this team is coming together. I wish Hood would get healthy. It would be nice to see him get some experience this year.

This is a message board with opinions. Funny how you call me a sheep when you're agreeing with everyone else.

Well you know what they say about opinions.
if this team lost every game morale and chemistry would be hurting. You got to take the GSW route to handling this. Philly, Minnesota are teams that could be years behind. Would you rather look like them?

I didn't say I want us to lose every game. You're making assumptions now. And you know what they say about assumptions.

I merely want to have a chance to draft in the top-6 as we're not going to sign a star to this team VIA free-agency despite what some people wish. And we tend to draft much better than Philly & Minnesota - DL has a very good track record so far despite drafting Burke. Also, Milt Newton has made a lot of good moves since becoming the GM of the Wolves - so if they keep losing he'll likely continue making good draft choices as well as trades.

Why are people still saying this kinda ish? Even after games like that?!

Is it really that hard to understand? I'm really glad that everyone is so positive about the team, and they should be, but we still have two HUGE holes that need to be filled, and our level of success over the next 1-10 years depends on how we fill those holes. It's FAR from a given that they'll be filled adequately any time soon. As awesome as we are 3-5, we can only go so far with Band-Aid solutions at the 1-2. In two years, I doubt anyone is going to care about losing a couple extra games in a non-playoff year, but if we miss the next difference maker by one or two picks, and that leads to getting bounced in the first round year after year, fans will care a great deal.

Honestly, this attitude of just win as much as possible and then hope that God/luck takes care of the rest, just isn't very realistic. If it was, Rudy Gobert would be starting and playing 35 mpg, and Utah would trade Kanter/Burke +pick/s to upgrade one of/both our guard positions by the deadline. Then again, if Utah doesn't make a trade at the deadline and Gobert continues to be used other than our biggest impact player, I'm guessing our FO agrees with those who want to manage for the future, rather than focusing on winning every game this year.
