People Signing Overseas

Some summer league invitees have signed overseas. Tyrese Rice signed with a team in Germany and Rod Benson has signed with a team in Korea. A couple of other guys that were undrafted free agents Mikhail Torrance a 6'5" point guard from Alabama signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Sylven Landesberg a 6'5" two guard from Virginia has also signed overseas. This dries up some players I thought could be brought to camp to compete with Gaines, Jeffers and Evans.

I think he would be a great addition. Had great senior year stats and had a couple of good games in the NCAA tournament where he carried St. Marys.

:) Omar. There's something kind of endearing about the guy. I'd love the Jazz to at least give him a shot in camp.

Didn't Thorpe or some expert say Landesberg was one of the best undrafted players this year? Am I gettin this right? Anyone recall this?

With a lock-out looming you'd think more of the NBA bench guys would sign overseas for gauranteed multiple year contracts. I'm not talking about Benson or Rice but the next level of players like Fess, Kleiza, maybe Childress. It's odd that the opposite happened and the guys who were overseas returned to the NBA : Childress, & Kleiza. Darko had said he wanted to go to Europe but he stayed. Maybe the players have reason to be optimistic about next season.

Yes Thorpe did say Landesberg was one of the best undrafted free agents. He impressed Paul Westphal enough that he got thrown under the bus in print along with all the Sacramento guards on the summer league team.

Omar averaged 10 points about 7.5 rebounds and 1 block per game in 25 minutes of avg pt for Dallas in Vegas. His free throw percentage did give some pause but he averaged 72% his senior year of college. He is a hard working Jazz type of guy.
