I'm not exactly inclined to defend PETA but why is there no direct response from them in this article?

My wife used to manage a No-Kill Animal Shelter and the problem with them is that eventually you are left with nothing but un-adoptable animals. As in old dogs no one wants or, for the most part, pit bulls that were neglected or used for fighting by their previous owner and are now vicious animals.

The thing is, I don't find euthanasia disgusting. What's disgusting is PETA going after people for doing no worse than they do themselves.
