Petteri Koponen -- Or who's your target if Dante's out for the year?

Trey Burke will be our starting PG. We are stuck with that until at least a month or so before the deadline, when someone might become available.

If the Jazz can stay in the playoff hunt with Burke as the starter, they'll make a trade for a veteran at the deadline and try to make a big push heading into the postseason. No idea who they'll go after, but someone will be available and they have assets to burn.

Jesus Turner is ****ing awful.

Off that list, I'd go with the first dude by a mile.

But I'd rather have George Hill or Dennis Schröder over him.

That's how I see it. Jazz have cap space, picks, and depending on who the PG is, they could give up Burke, Neto or Cotton in a trade. This is a good opportunity for Trey to up his trade value.

They already have 3 PGs signed. Not sure they will sign another. I think they would just start, whomever has the best camp. That said, I wouldn't mind giving Evan Turner a shot to make the roster. He had some really solid games last season and would definitely fit as a back-up 3. He has similar playmaking ability as Hayward but not the jumpshot.

Which is scary because Hayward's jumpshot is adequate but not stellar by any stretch.

Hate to disagree... not. But think this is exactly wrong. IF we're in the playoff hunt w/ Burke, we won't trade for a veteran, we would hold the course. But it would also prove that this team is GOOD (especially in the W. Conf) despite the PG. As pointed out by many, with Hayward, Burks, Hood - good ball handlers who can run the plays, and w/ Rudy setting the D... great core. They won't make a push to jump one round in the playoffs.

Yes, they may trade, but it won't be for a veteran or for 2015/2016 playoffs.

Depends on who becomes available. Utah should be in the playoff hunt regardless, but standing pat with Trey Burke will be a mistake unless he improves dramatically this year. I agree with Ellis that if the opportunity comes along for a significant upgrade at PG, Utah should and probably will pursue it.

Conditionally agree... if it is someone who is a definite upgrade and we can keep them into 2017/2018, yes. If it's a one year contract veteran, no. Don't mess it up unless we know we can keep the guy for 2016/2017, and a chance to keep him for another year...

Maybe go after lawson or beverly.... I can't see them both being happy in Houston..... One of them will not be getting enough minutes and will want out

Jazz will stick with Burke/Neto/Cotton. If one of them does really well then there will be no trade for a PG.

I think the Exum injury has to really worry Johnson and Cooley though as they are now less likely to get the final roster spot over Cotton.
