Anyone been?

How concerned should I be of these Gypsy gangs I keep hearing about? Dont care about my money, just dont want my passport lifted on the way to or from Schipohl and a buddy of mine says to just count on at least 1 attempt at your pocket while you are on the train or roamong about.
 
Keep your valuable stuff in your front jeans pocket or in a zippered inside jacket pocket (and wear your jacket), or inside your bags, just don't leave your bags ever unattended.
 
Put dog poop in your backpocket. It will suck at first, but will be worth it when someone pick pockets dog poop from you.

just grow a manly beard and those guys wont pick pocket you.
if you look to feminine they will rob you blind.

there is a coleration with amsterdam and pickpocket.

first of you got prostituition, weed and lots of homosexuals.
johns, stoners, and homosexuals are easy targets for pick pockets.

with a manly beard and class, you dont have to worry cus you wont look like any of those 3

I am a seasoned traveler, but a lot of the lax EU laws have made pick pocketing gypsies a plague in most major cities. Youtube Gypsies-Pick pocket- Europe. Paris, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona and Amsterdam are supposedly the worst at the moment with many residents screaming that the Roma are ruining their countries.

Most dutch businessmen I deal with in the US are clean shaven when they visit. Would I look out of place in the business world with some scruff?
 
Watch out for the gypsies children they are the worst! They go out in gangs of 3-5 and will try to pick pocket you in crowed areas. Also they like to distract you with paper asking you to donate money don't read it and just push them away. We were at dinner in Paris and my moms phone got stolen by the gypsie kids they came in the restraunt surrounding our table making a lot of noise and they were talking in different language and my moms iphone was on the table and they put the paper over the phone and took it and ran off. We didn't notice at first but a few mins later we found out but they were gone. We were lucky tho cause we think they were going for my moms purse instead but they couldn't reach it in time. So just be careful

well we all know how the christian majority would react it we were talking about banning christians instead of pickpocketer gyp rosetties.

The trick is misdirection and hand sleight. You can distract your target with some seemingly innocent act like asking a question or bumping into the person you're gonna rob. But go for the easiest targets all the time, like old people who can't fight back, or people who are listening to something with headphones on their ears. People sitting right next to the doors are also easy to work on because you don't have to be much precise, you can always just hop off if anything goes bad.

If you have friends though you should always work together, because it's way better and easier if you work in a team. However you should have the arrangement of sharing the booty beforehand, otherwise it gets ugly the afterwards.

Btw, the Dutch drink a lot after the work hours so it's always wiser to work in the evening, generally when they are on the way home from the pubs.

All in all, you should be fine, just don't forget to look out for the cops, security guards, other pickpockets and children. They will always be much more aware than your victims. Good luck and may the force be with you.
