What's new

Pick who you think will be the top four players from this yrs draft

1. Andrew Wiggins. Just a young pup right now. Gonna grow up to be a beast.

2. Jabar Parker. Underated defender. Gonna beast

3. Joel Embiid. Looks pretty good. Not sure I buy into the Hakeem comparison hype. Thats a pretty lofty expectation .. Tons of potential though.

4. Julius Randle. Not sure his style will dominate the NBA but he is only a freshman. Man child.

Honorable mentions.

5. Marcus Smart

6. Aaron Gordon...... Seems destined for the Jazz. I can feel it

Laziness is next to Godliness.

 Thank you, thank you

1. Wiggins - Once this dude hones his skills he'll be unstoppable. Quickest 6'8'' dude I've ever seen and he's got some Durantulesque arms.
2. Embiid - This dude is really long, fast, and appears to be pretty freaking intelligent. Lethal combination.
3. Parker - He. Can. Score. Very. Well.
4. Exum - Never seen him play. That word of mouth taking him into the top 4. I claim no responsibility for his positioning.

The thing that I like about Wiggins, Embiid and Exum is that their length and athleticism should allow them to develop into great defenders. If they develop offensive skills, then they'll be pretty damn valuable.

Parker, Randle and Smart all seem to be more offensive players than defensive ones, and I don't know if they'll have the athleticism to really become elite defenders.

The plain and simple fact is that ANY of them would have been the first overall pick last year. The fact that the Jazz came away with one of the top players in a crappy draft (and Burke might end up being the best player out of the 2013 draft) AND then get a guy like the six previously mentioned is pretty good for a team that's finally starting to show some of its potential. Things look good and should keep getting better.

1. Andrew Wiggins - People are now sleeping on this kid. He has ELITE athleticism and underrated skills that will only get better. He's the most skilled athletic freak at that age we've seen since LeBron. He can become truly elite on both ends.

2. Joel Embiid - He looks like a lock to be the anchor for your defense (will probably be a DPOY at some point), as well as being a guy I think can put up 20ppg some day. You can basically build both your offense AND defense around him. As rare as that type of player is, I still have Wiggins #1 because I believe he'll have an even bigger impact on the offensive end.

3. Jabari Parker - Will be an elite--or next to elite--scorer. I think he'll be Carmelo Anthony with intangibles. He's just missing some athleticism, which is mainly hindering his abilities on the defensive end.

4. Julius Randle - Lacks some explosiveness, but has a very unique blend of size and agility. He scores in ways most guys with his build simply can't. He'll put up 20/10 some day, and be a good defender (has good lateral quickness, strength, and intensity) but won't be able to anchor your defense like Embiid.

(Exum might deserve the 4th spot over Randle, but he's such an enigma to me that I'm not going to act like I can evaluate him in detail.)

What makes LeBron, LeBron? Is it his athleticism or is it his size? I keep hearing how Wiggins has LeBron's athleticism, but without his size doesn't that just make Wiggins another athletic freak in the NBA? Wasn't that supposed to be what was so great about Marvin? It seems like Wiggins is more "looks good on paper" than actually will be Jordan.

Wiggins is way quicker than marvin and way more athletic... dumb comparison.

What makes lebron so great isnt just his athletic ability and size...... he has TONS of skills.

As for wiggins, his quickness and athleticism combined with freakish length will make him incredibly hard to stop from getting to the basket once hus handles come around.
Plus his jumper is looking better and better.
IF it all comes together (i think it will) then i think he will be more like jordan than lebron as far as style of play

Wiggins just hasn't impressed me as much perhaps because I was buying into the hype. Dude scored 3 pts tonight. Sorry but right now Wiggins could hold Lebron's jock. He is no where near Lebron. Lebron scored 25 pts in his first NBA game. I still like the kid but he is going to take some time to be great if he wants to be. Right now I question if he really wants to be great.

Embiid is my guy. Kid just has an attitude about himself.

Parker - Out of his slump but I would have to know that he wasn't going on a mission to draft him above the other guys. I would probably take him over Wiggins.

Exum - the mystery man - I can't judge him because the only game I saw him play was against Spain.

Randle - We don't need a PF but I still would be fine getting him.

Smart & Gordon - nice consolation prizes but not good enough for my top 5.

Andrew and Aaron Harrison - they are starting to play better. I was hoping they would stay under the radar so the Jazz could have a shot at one of them with the GS pick. I'll keep my eyes on them.

im gona say embiid, parker, wiggins, randle

and we will see how they pan out.

wiggins has freakish athletic ability.

parker has really good bball iq. he is more like a basketball player.

i just wish ty and co would get their heads out their *** and focus on the tank.

The Jazz need a guy they can run the offense through, a 1st-option scorer. I think Embiid can be that guy in a couple years and could become a dominant player.
Randle is not going to be able to dominate physically at the NBA level. He's going to need to dominate from mid-range with a jumper and his quick step.
Parker is a pretty pure scorer, both inside and out. He could be just what the Jazz need, both to score and complement the players we have.
I don't know what to think about Wiggins at the moment. The game comes very easy to him, and he can become almost unstoppable. Maybe he coasts a bit and is saving himself or pacing himself for the longer term.

So I'll say --

1) Embiid
2) Parker
2a) Wiggins
4) Randle

The more film I watch the more I realize how bad of a defensive player Jabari Parker is. I'm going to go ahead and call it now, I think you will start to see him sliding in the mock drafts soon and Dante Exum will move up. This would be good news if your a Jazz fan and you want to draft Parker. Personally, I think Parker might be too much of a liability on defense causing other players on defense getting out of position trying to help out. I'm leaning towards Embiid, Wiggins, Exum in that order.

Here is my new draft order:
1) Joel Embiid
2) Andrew Wiggins
3) Julius Randle
4) Dante Exum
5) Jabari Parker
6) Marcus Smart

I'm making a video of the top draft picks and their weaknesses and as soon as I am done I will share it. It might be a week or two though as I don't have a lot of free time.

Kind of amusing that everyone seems to think these four guys really are the four best possibilities. I guess ballyhoo and publicity mean everything these days. I will make a prediction that will not fail. When the draft is completed these four will not be the first four players drafted, in any order. PKM dinged me for saying this, but i stand by it, Wiggins is an obviously fab talent, but is not really doing any more than hundreds of other players across the country. At this point he is all potential, and has not been a dominant player at the collegiate level, much less than proving he will succeed as a pro player. This will not be a popular opinion here. Truth- I have been evaluating talent since long before most of you were born. So instead of treating me as a senile old man have a little respect. Just a little, not much required. Have mentioned this twice and the silence was monumental but someone should pay attention to Delon Wright of the Utes. His only failing as a player is he needs to work on his outside shot, other than that he is a complete player.

You didn't list who you think will be the top 4 drafted.
Oh wise talent evaluator, give us your list

Agree. Where's the prediction?
Of course things could change. Embiid was nowhere near the top a few months ago. Let's just assume for gramps sake all of the players declare (obviously if one doesn't, his prognostication automatically comes true). I could easily see Exum or Smart sneak into the 3rd/4th slot depending on the tournament, workouts, etc. Embiid seems destined for #1 and I think Wiggins' game/athleticism lands him at #2. Parker and Randle both have ?'s. They'll go top 6, but will they go 3/4? I don't know. I think those players will be so close in terms of draft grade that team needs will certainly come into play. In fact, I give the nod to Embiid as BPA simply because he's a center and franchise 5's are hard to acquire. You might be able to make a case for any of the next 4-5 players to be the "BPA" at #2.

What would be interesting is to have Utah land the #1 pick. Then they might be willing to deal it to Milwaukee or Orlando and fall back 1-2 spots, knowing they would still end up with Parker or Wiggins and be able to get another asset in the process.

I really think the top 3 will be Wiggins, Embiid and Exum. I think all three will go higher than Jabari, because with Jabari you know you will get a 20 point a night scorer, has some limitations of defense and will make 10 All-Star games.

But with Embiid, Exum and Wiggins, you get POTENTIAL. Wooooo! You could get Thabeet, Gay and ok SG, OR you could get MJ, Drexler and Hakeem.

That gets people so excited, that they won't take the sure homerun, but instead will take a huge swing and try for the grand slam (which they may or may not make contact with).

As i thought would happen, most misunderstand what i am saying. It's not about rather or not i can pick the top 3-4 players chosen. My guess would only be slightly better than most of yours. The point is that at this point in time it is almost foolish to claim you know who the top 4 players in the draft will be. Draft day needs to come first, then if you can see into other peoples minds (mostly GM's) then you might have an idea who those names will be. My only prediction would be that the names usually bandied about --Jabari, Wiggins, Embiid, Exum, Randle (what happened to Randle nobody talking about him now, which is precisely my point) will most likely all go in the top 15, but even that is not a sure thing. Another possiblility is another unknown name (or 2 or 3) will insert themselves into that short list. NCAA tournament changes a lot of things. My advice would be to enjoy the season (or not) like i'm not and feel good that the future is much brighter than the rest of this year is. How much brighter only time will tell. My crystal ball is broken.

Edit- Didn't see the new thread based on one game that says Randle is now the second coming. Making my point for me.

This thread is about just having fun guessing who we think might be the top picks, you party pooper

Your post basically is saying "i dont know who will be the top picks, so lets just wait till the draft and find out". Where is the fun in that
