Plan to Attract Free Agents

You are being overly defensive.. I was not knocking Utah, I was making a lighthearted statement about how it is silly that people who are part white and part black are always thought of as black, and how there are biases and inequities in our American society in general, not just in Utah, that could be possibly reduced if the perceived lines between black and white were moved around and blurred.

Seems like this is a stretch of a fit for the Utah Jazz forum.

Mods, please categorize this thread appropriately by merging it with the "Posters you wish would retire" thread in General. Thanks.

Legalize polygamy, improve our clubs, legalize marijuana, and attract black people here. Free agents will go crazy for us!!!

Blurring of a line reduces the effectiveness of the line.

Two things:

1. Any line that is in place is not there because of some administrative mandate. The line is there because both sides acknowledge and recognize it.

2. Stoked has said this, but I think it bears repeating; Your "solution" doesn't blur any lines, it just moves some people from one side to the other. If anything, this reinforces the concept of the line.

Our plan for attracting FAs would be basically Derrick Favors........ oh, and overpaying, but everyone does that except the Lakers.

(there are administrative rules classifying people. Many Laws rely on this distinction, which is defined by the US Census and such.)

your point 1, first of all , is false, but also, even if it were true , that would not detract from the validity of my recommendation
(The line are drawn by such things as the US Census, and have implications in many distinctions of law or administration.)

your point 2, is incorrect, like Stoked, you are being too literal, seeing things in black and white, and not seeing grey areas or foreseeing consequences.
What you are not seeing, is that the moving of the line would make people realize that the line is arbitrary, blurry, and impractical.
With this realization, I believe the line would become more disregarded and unimportant.

I'm with you. I have to reread everything twice.

Edit: As a result I lost interest talking to him. I'd rather be working.

..., because we all know how easy life is the more you're treated like a white person.

I recently read an article that gave this analogy: being a straight, cis, white male is like playing a video game on "Easy" mode. You don't automatically win, but you get hundreds of small advantages you don't really notice. Some people playing the game on harder difficulty levels will still do better than you. Life is easier when you are white, at least in the USA. However, "easier" may not mean "easy" to all people.

None of the examples in your OP (preferential treatment by cops, judges, potential employers, increasing home values, stock options, etc.) have anything to do with the census or any type of administrative classification. Therefore, you are wrong, and I am not.

Thank you for playing.

I don't have a clue as to what the actual argument is, or what northeasts original post originally meant, but I do know this. I side with Stoked.

It seems like being a multi-millionaire pro athlete opens a few doors as well. Doors that aren't open to me no matter how straight and white I am.

That's your opinion, but you are wrong.
You don't get an egg without a chicken.

Hotchkiss' seven deadly sins of narcissism

1.Shamelessness: Shame is the feeling that lurks beneath all unhealthy narcissism, and the inability to process shame in healthy ways.
2.Magical thinking: Narcissists see themselves as perfect, using distortion and illusion known as magical thinking. They also use projection to dump shame onto others.
3.Arrogance: A narcissist who is feeling deflated may reinflate by diminishing, debasing, or degrading somebody else.
4.Envy: A narcissist may secure a sense of superiority in the face of another person's ability by using contempt to minimize the other person.
5.Entitlement: Narcissists hold unreasonable expectations of particularly favorable treatment and automatic compliance because they consider themselves special. Failure to comply is considered an attack on their superiority, and the perpetrator is considered an "awkward" or "difficult" person. Defiance of their will is a narcissistic injury that can trigger narcissistic rage.
6.Exploitation: Can take many forms but always involves the exploitation of others without regard for their feelings or interests. Often the other is in a subservient position where resistance would be difficult or even impossible. Sometimes the subservience is not so much real as assumed.
7.Bad boundaries: Narcissists do not recognize that they have boundaries and that others are separate and are not extensions of themselves. Others either exist to meet their needs or may as well not exist at all. Those who provide narcissistic supply to the narcissist are treated as if they are part of the narcissist and are expected to live up to those expectations. In the mind of a narcissist there is no boundary between self and other.

Oooo...ooooo thats you!

Interesting, that applies to others here more than me.
I am not part of a group going after individuals.

You said you wanted us to ignore each other, Verlin, and yet you keep coming after me.
You do not seem at all honorable in your actions, because the rules you want to apply to me you do not want to apply to others or yourself. .

I never said I want to ignore you. I said I wanted to be on your not so exclusive list. I have no honor, this is true. Keep doing your thing.
