I think for the people against it is particularly disturbing because there is a known macabre outcome and it is a societal decision. People liken it to the burning of Jews. It is a planned disruption of a human life ostensibly acceptable to society as a whole. That sets it apart.

Yes I would rather individuals be happier than families allowed to abuse their kids and be left alone as one example. Since child abuse is at an all time low that seems better to me. Although I living in Provo where families are preached as very important but sexual abuse is high. But maybe thats better and I dont know.
