Please Let This Be True

A guy was on CBS National Radio this morning and said AGod was the biggest potential GM and coach killer in the draft. The guy said he was a good defender with no offensive skills.

Does Andre Iguodala ring a bell? Players with this kind of athleticism, size, and BBIQ thrive in the league for a dozen plus years. Gordon's intangibles and extreme drive guarantee he's a good pick at 5. Did I mention his high BBIQ? Yeah, he's got plenty of that which separates the greats from the merely good players.

Much more than Rodman? DR was one of the best rebounders of all-time and an annual first-team all NBA defender.

Yes.

Rodman was largely one dimensional. The comparison is unfair. Rodman excelled at a couple things. Gordon excels at a lot of things. Beyond A-God's shooting, the rest of his game is extremely polished.

To me, there's a difference between excelling in college and being an NBA all-time great. But hey, that's just me.

This plus I see him as a guy who will do all the dirty work on offense without complaint. He'll get 12-15 pts a night of off garbage and transition stuff which has a lot of value.

I think the problem people have is we have to get our "franchise player" and most people want that guy to score 25 a night. San Antonio's leading scorer scored like 17 pts a night. They proved you can do it as a team... without that one guy to take the last shot.

You are mincing meaning. I already clarified what I meant. I take objection to the Rodman comp, because it insinuates A-God is just a rebounder/defender, when he is really good at so much more. As for what his NBA career will bring? Time will tell. Rodman is a horrible comp, that is all.

Skill-wise, what does Gordon excel at by the way? I'm genuinely asking.

On offense... good passer, good handle for a 4... average for a 3. He's also good at dunking basketballs. On defense I think he can lock down 3s and guard some 4s. Will likely struggle with the Aldridge's and Randolph's of the NBA.

Overall crazy good motor and athleticism. I think motor is a skill, some guys just play harder than others.
