Hey Jazzfanzz, I have been a long time lurker, seldom poster here on Jazzfanzz. I have been here way before the old site crashed and we have the current one that has been set up. I haven't asked for anything, but, well,... now.

I have a YouTube channel that I am trying to get off the ground, it's been rough trying to get subscribers on there. Now, I'm not asking for YOU to subscribe, but I am just asking if you know anyone that likes video games, then just mention my channel to them. I would like... love you like Jerry Sloan had a man-crush on John Crotty.

Anyways, thanks for reading, here is the link to my best video:

My kid follows a bunch of video game related youtubers and apparently thinks he will eventually make his living in that field. I'll send him the link and ask him if you're any good.

I'll watch too, but my opinion won't be worth 1/4 what his is worth.

Thanks bro, any advice would help! :D

Do you know nerd cubed? My kid watches that **** religiously. He and his friend started a youtube channel (they haven't done much with it) called youandmeproductions. I only found out recently, when my kid was complaining about some sort of update to youtubes compensation agreement and new copyright rules enforcements that affect "lets play" videos that my son wants to make his living by making youtube videos because he was bitching about how they would affect him. He's twelve.

Yeah I have to be careful when making it. Like when I make Grand Theft Auto videos they have a computer that regulates the music on the clips. I have to basically play with the music off or else the computer will flag it.

Yeah, my son is all up in arms about this, Feels like youtube has betrayed those who made it successful.

Well, yeah. Basically the record/movie companies pay more than the average random YouTuber. It just makes business sense to do whatever the companies say to do. Granted, yeah it hurts the people who made YouTube possible, but there isn't anything you can do about it, you just have to play their game.

I have no freaking clue what it was that I just watched. I don't know if it was real or staged or porn or what. I don't know if I'll ever watch it again.

But you're damn right I "Liked" it and "Subscribed" the hell out of it. Nice work, essay.

Lol... thanks bro. Yeah it was real, I didn't stage any of it, I just chopped the 8 hours or so worth of footage into 7:30 and put some flair to it. :)

.???

Please respond.

You tend to say **** (poop) a lot.

But otherwise nice videos. Some small critique, they tend to be fairly dark and gameplay can be hard to make out. I turned off all the lights in my office and it got better but you might want to adjust gamma in-game or post-production to make the game play more clear. Otherwise nice work.

Yeah the earlier videos I made were really that dark, and the clips are in sequential order. Towards the end of the gameplay videos I did turn up the gamma in post, thanks for the heads up though.

Also, thanks to anyone that has watched or given me feedback either on here or has subscribed. You have no idea how much any feedback means while doing these. :)

Seriously though you do say **** a lot. And I mean a lot. Not that I ****ing care about swearing, because really I ****ing don't give a ****ing ****, but it does get distracting during the video.

I tried to watch it but I don't understand. You film your face while you play video games?

In all due respect, and I am being completely honest.....why would anyone want to watch that?

That guy is the #1 subscribed YouTube channel, in fact 20% of the top 100 subscribed youtube channels are people recording themselves playing video games.

Yeah that's me, and yeah I do say **** a lot in the clips. Those are just clips that are condensed from about 8 hours of game footage that are in other videos I have on the channel. Unfortunately... when I get scared I curse like a sailor haha... I left another 4 letter word that starts with F out of the montage, I don't say it a lot, I think I say S*** more often just because it's me just being slightly more classy :3

Lol... I think I answered your question without answering it. I think a lot of people watch, well, the scary games because they get a kick out of watching someone lose it. I know when I watched another "Let's Play" channel that was the case. The guy behind the mic can make it funny or entertaining depending on whatever the game he/she is playing. I just started playing another game called "Octodad," where you play an octopus that has a wife and family and no one knows that he is actually a real octopus. Games like that are pretty silly and you can have fun with it while recording the video. Some of those games people want to play or at least experience but they don't have a powerful enough computer to run it or they don't own the exclusive system that the game is on, or... some people just want to know what the game is like before buying it.

I know a lot of people like watching "let's play" channels because there is always a lot of content. It's super easy to edit a video and put it on YouTube, very little editing is actually involved, so you can keep pumping out episodes pretty regularly. I myself try to get 5 videos out a week, with is more than your typical YouTube channel puts out. There is a certain familiarity that people like when watching different things too. The show "Friends" for example was researched and it was found out that shut-ins had the same endorphines released in the brain when the show came on that a typical person had when they saw people they were friends with. I suppose in that case, in essence they had a real relationship with the people on the TV, even though they won't ever meet those or have ever met those people before. Some people just watch those channels to have something playing in the background when they work, kind of like listening, but not really listening to someone like Glen Beck, or any other political/talk radio show. There are enough hours of footage, even on my channel to watch continuously for hours at a time, I just don't have many subscribers lol...

It's really difficult to start up as a "let's play-er", since there really is an over-saturation of the "market". A lot of people that try to start one up typically just end up quitting after starting. I am only 65+ videos into my channel, and some of the bigger known ones that have been at it for a year+ have over 1,000+ videos, so really I'm a newbie at it. I never really thought that anyone would ever watch another person play another video game, I mean, why watch someone when you can play it yourself. I started watching another YouTuber and got hooked to his channel, it was more about watching the guy than the game. He turned into the show instead of the game. After watching him for a long time I just realized that doing those videos were simple, I can at times be entertaining, and I needed a new hobby lol.

I hoped that answered your question a little bit better than the other reply. :)
