What's new

Poker Tournament 2-17-12 at 7pm -- League Game #1

I would have loved to have come and played last week, but I was in Wendover playing on the Montego tournaments. I bubbled on the Friday noon tournament. Played $1/$2 NL the rest of the time and did well. Some major action on one of the tables.

The town itself is certainly a crap hole. Montego, Peppermill, and Rainbow are pretty nice casinos. The poker room at Montego is fairly new and very nice. The Nugget isn't as nice, and the Garter is even less so. Although the Garter is about 10000X better today than it was 2 years ago before the Nugget bought it out.

I just ask cause I'm always tempted to go out there just so I can know exactly what it means to go to Wendover for the weekend. I think it's a requirement if you are a true Utahan, but I always look at like that's 90 minutes that I could have spent jumping on a plane to Vegas or driving to Vegas so I haven't done it yet. I do like gambling though.

I have driven I-80 to Evanston to grab some fireworks in the worst snowstorm I've ever encountered though which made it pretty wild , so I can at least check off one border town adventure.

The drive is easy and for a weekend it's a great place to go. Everything is cheaper than Vegas, and there are some serious fish at times. I like Vegas a lot too and spend time playing there a few times a year, but for a quick getaway, Wendover is more than sufficient, IMO.

The play hasn't been too bad when I've been there. Just the town and the 90 year old ladies chain smokin' and playing 3 slot machines at once.

No doubt.

Have you been to the Montego poker room? It's really nice and there's some really good action almost all of the time there.

Last time I went, a few months ago, I went to the Montego. I was there on a Friday and there were like 3-4 tables cramed in a corner. They had several new poker tables and a larger room that they said was going to open the next day. Haven't been back to see it yet.
