The dig about her being Smollett's family friend wasn't the important part. Smollett is only the reason I recognized her name immediately. The important part, and how it relates to the decision to charge or not charge, is the animosity between Foxx and the police. She is very much not pro-cop.

Not informing victims of a crime of the prior decision.
Releasing the victims of police coercion.
Releasing a different criminal suspected to be a gang member.

I mean, if you take the position 'the cops are always right' (as a police union might), I can understand disliking the third, but you are really suggesting that it's OK to coerce confessions, are you?
