Positive Commets on Kanter

Finally Kanter got into ESPN's top 10 rookie rankings. Some positive comments below:

9. Enes Kanter, Jazz

As a high draft pick and someone who dominated the Nike Hoop Summit game like no one has since Dirk Nowitzki, the expectations for Kanter are extremely high. It's not fair or wise to expect total dominance from a big man who is just 19 and playing in America for the first time. Rather, it's important to see success in small doses -- perhaps even big success in one area of the game that, over time, will grow into something much bigger. (That's really how it happens almost all the time in the NBA.)

Suffice it to say that Kanter is doing that as a rebounder. His six offensive rebounds against Oklahoma City on Feb. 10 were impressive in that he showed great hands, an ability to tip the ball away from the opponent and to himself, and a willingness to bang guys in front of the rim while going to the glass frequently. It's no surprise that a big man with long arms and good hands is the best offensive and defensive rebounder of this class despite being so young.

It makes me wonder how good Kanter would be right now had he been able to play for a season at Kentucky. Still, his numbers suggest that he can be a starting big man in the league, one who finishes inside well and owns the boards.

Very encouraging comments. Let's see if he can get into top 5 by the end of the season!!

JazzFanz have known for a long time that he's an elite-level rebounder. Welcome to last month, ESPN.

Well he had 7 rebounds in 11 minutes last night. Kanter will have some 20 rebound games when he is playing 30 minutes a night. Personally, I would love it if the Jazz traded AJ so Favors and Kanter can play more. What they lack on offense they make up on defense.

Yes! Trade the hell out of Jefferson. Let Evans and/or Carroll be the 4th big on any given night.

I can't tell how serious you are about this. I agree with your statement regardless. I would rather gamble with trading Jefferson away rather than to see the same thing night in and night out that has gotten the Jazz an under .500 record right now, and I am afraid that it will only get worse.

I'm serious as a ****ing heart attack.

jazz trade: Jefferson + NJ second-rounder
houston trades: Kevin Martin

then Ty grows a pair of man-sized balls and plays burks some minutes at the 1 (defending the PG while Hayward and Martin shoulder the playmaking)

Houston has plenty of depth at the wings, but needs more paint scoring.

Well, at least Big Al has been increasing his trade value over the past three weeks. Most owners and GM's don't care/think about defense (reference the contracts given to guys like Boozer). They just see Al putting up 20/10 and may be willing to shell out some decent assets to get him. Normally I subscribe to the adage that you don't trade big for small. But if Al could be parlayed into a starting wing or PG plus a 1st or a decent backup big, i'd be in favor of a trade. As raw as Favors and Kanter are, they've both shown flashes. Time to give those guys 30 mins each. And if the offense doesn't always consist of throwing the ball inside and waiting for Al to split a double or triple team, maybe there will be more chances for the wings, and that will result in better play out of Hayward, Burks, etc.

Please yes.

I made it a little fairer to Houston by taking a guy who can't get off the bench in exchange for Raja, who has a slightly better contract.

Martin can handle the ball so playing him with Burks at the 1 would build in a bailout for Burks making rookie mistakes.

Pretty happy with the pick. Kanter is having a better rookie season than Williams, whose lofty college three point shot has not translated to the NBA so far.

Kanter has definitely shown that at very worst he can be a serviceable big man. He makes all the hustle plays and we see glimpses of his offense. I think with a couple of seasons to develop his post game he could be very good.

I see no reason why he won't get under 12 rebounds a game, when he gets a chance to start. I'm starting to think the jazz should trade both Millsap and Al I want us to be a defensive minded team Kanter and Favors will get better on offense also Burks and Haywards offense will get pretty good with time.
