What's new

possible locations for Jefferson. Also, when is he dealt?

Can't amnesty players you trade for.

But, looks like he's only got a 10-17 mil guaranteed clause in his contract for next year.

That means it would be stupid for Washington to give up assets to rid themselves of Lewis for Jefferson, who gets 15 mil next year.

I proposed Lewis and Nick Young for Hayward and Jefferson in my "troll thread" partially for this reason. That trade is weighted in favor of Washington, but we'd clear the logjam, set for a rebuild, and have Nick Young. Young is leading the Wizards in scoring on almost 40% from 3, but he can't shoot much else with any efficiency.

Nah. They're one of the most logical choices but getting salaries to match is near impossible. Unless we did something like Jefferson and Miles for Rashard Lewis' albatross and their 2013 1st. They'd get a legit post presence and a wing. We'd take on an awful contract but at least he's a guy who could start at the 3 and shoot, as well as that 2013 1st. There's no way they'd give up their 2012 1st rounder.

Watson-Tinsley
Bell-Burks
Lewis-Hayward-Carroll
Millsap-Turiaf
Favors-Kanter

On the surface, I feel like this roster sucks. Burks and Hayward are still getting screwed as far as PT. But to get that 2013 1st rounder would be HUGE and Lewis would help spread the floor which would aid in the development of our bigs who would be getting much more playing time. Bell and Lewis would be expiring after next season and we'd be loaded with draft picks with some real studs coming out in the next two years. Not sure I'd do it....but I think I would to get that Washington 1st and rid ourselves of two numbskulls.

well,i agree on that part

For about 30 games.

Trading Hayward for a UFA. And that UFA happens to be Nick Young. Hard to think of something worse.

Why would it be stupid if they see value in acquiring a low post player in Jefferson? He's flawed but 18-9 guys don't grow on trees and they may see some very good value in him, despite what we and many others see in him. Trading Lewis may also clear room for Vesley to play more. Just a thought. I'm trying here.

Like I said, the trade is a bit spurious and favored toward Washington. They could add something of value.

I also would require Young to extend. He's pissed about his $3.7mm deal with Washington and the CBA. Great opportunity IMO.

You're also not valuing the experience our youngs would get and the better draft pick we'd end up with as high as I am. I'm sick of limbo. It's time to go OKC for a year or two.

You would actually want Young to extend? Burks will be better.

Ah, so they can go from 10 wins to maybe 15. Great value, there. Lewis is only averaging 26 minutes. Leaves plenty of time for a rookie to play. Lewis has only played 29 minutes in the past 5 games. Trading Lewis WON'T clear room for Vesley. They've already done so.

DO NOT WANT NICK YOUNG. Ewwwwwwwwwwww.

I'm sure CJ Miles would love Nick Young here. Target off his back would go squarely on Young.

And yet Jefferson very well could have made the all-star team over Dirk. While you see no value in Jefferson, other people do. Maybe they don't do it now, but if they get the 1st pick and draft Davis from UK, they may just consider acquiring Big Al to play the 4, knowing they have a stud defender behind him. They may like the idea of a Wall, Young, Vesely, Jefferson, Davis starting five.

Stop pissing on my parade.

Washington isn't going to give an unprotected first round pick for Jefferson. Jefferson has value, but the production isn't worth the draft pick when financials are equal. Jefferson can net late first rounders.

Well, one thing I considered putting, but was too lazy to type up, was stating that while they would give us their 1st, they'd get ours. Or really, more specifically, we get the better of both picks no matter what. They'd get the lower. Could be a nominal difference. It could be a ten spot difference. Seems reasonable for both sides in my estimation.

This trade is so much more than straight basketball value.
They would also save $8.3mm or have that much additional to acquire another player this year.
Trading Jeffersos has more potential than doing anything with Lewis.
Jefferson, John Wall, JaVale McGhee for Dwight and Hedo is pretty fair value IMO, and it works in the Trade Machine.
Add enough value going to Utah like Washington's draft pick and make everyone happy.
Washington would have about $15 million to build around Howard.

^^Nick Young is not included b/c he's not available yet and TM has a hard time counting for TPE's.

He's not going to be traded. There aren't too many teams interested in eating his contract. Nor is KOC that eager to unload a double double big man playing for a (desperate) small market team.

Lewis would not spread the floor...Harris is shooting better from deep.

The trade I like is Martin and Dragic for Al. Martin has fallen out of favor with Houston and with the McHale connection, I think they'd do it.

https://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7lc9ypt

Seek a trade of Harris for a new jumbotron and Watson and Dragic run the point until we find something better.

Id do it if we could use Martin to get something else. I want Burks to get his minutes
