What's new

Predicting it now.

We are still going to be just fine, so none of his trades screwed us over. My point is that no one can point to those trades and see equal or better returns. The returns have been in our draftees' developments.

As for the Al/ Paul lack of deal. I understand fully what it allowed us to get in salary (Hood, etc.), and don't fully fault him on that one. But according to reports, we also could've had Bledsoe for Paul. Bledsoe would've allowed us to draft Schroeder or Giannis (potential pick who takes more time to develop, rather than Trey who was seen as more ready/ lower ceiling). The Al salary could have still allowe us to be apart of that dump with GSW, just not to same extent because we'd have Bled.

It's all spilled milk. I'm honestly good with where we're at. I just think we should be honest about our moves. Our drafting has been pretty good, our trading has been questionable.

It's funny how you count picking Trey as a trade and not a draft pick, while trading for Gobert is what? A draft pick... you can build all kinds of narratives for what DL has done. The reality is, he has his good moves and he has his bad moves, just like everybody, including the very best teams in the league. The really good ones simply don't let the bad moves bury the team into the ground(Brooklyn style). Important thing is that we seem to be on the right track and our rebuild is going much faster than anticipated. Also, I maintain that the Kanter trade was good value for a disgruntled child, who didn't want to be here, wasn't giving it all when he was here, and was about to walk for nothing in the summer or next year.

Some games the only way you win is by sitting out... The Kanter FA is one of those games.

If we don't bring over tomic I fully expect pleiss to come over... If we get a decent backup center and cap space for Kanter I'm fine with that. Add in the low future first... Not a bad haul.

The Trey Burke trade was actually fairly decent... It is tough to move up in the draft. Trey was the right guy to pick at that moment... He hasn't been great but you have to judge the move when it happens.

You have to look at the results. We've got a great team with all of its core pieces, we've got a ton of draft/trade assets. We've also got cap space and flexibility. I don't know that I'd flip assets with any other developing team.

That Bledsoe report is wrong... We would have done that deal.

There was also ESPN

Report said the teams had mutual interest according to a source... That both teams would discuss it but that they expected the clips to retain him. If it was ever on the table as expirings and Bledsoe for millsap we would have done it. Guaranteed.

Who can know for sure? We thought we were going to make the playoffs, which would've been invaluable experience for the youngins.

I guess GMing is hard when you don't know the future then right.

It was a really light rumor. Based on DL's history here we would have taken the long view on that one.

Kanter sucks at defense. But I don't think it is accurate to judge the #'s with so many of their key defensive players out, and a whole new cast of players replacing them. Onn/off #'s must be considered with 5 man units. You have to think Roberson, Durant, and Ibaka would help Enes' on the court defensive #'s, as those would be the ones in the starting lineup with him.

For this discussion it is accurate. Their D sucks and it could cost them the playoffs. Kanter plays into that as do injuries. The reality is their D sucks and there is more than one reason.

So with the current reality the thunder could miss the play offs.

True.

Just as it was with us. Enes was certainly a weak link, but it isn't just as simple as a subtract Enes and presto defense. Our #'s have been trending up since January. Exum in place of Trey, Rudy getting more minutes, playing Favors at the 4, and acquiring E. Millsap have all been huge for us. Subtracting Enes allowed for some of that, but in no ways all of it.

In OKC, they are starting two centers and having one of them guard a smaller and faster player. They are starting Waiters, who is a complete idiot on both ends of the floor. Injuries, etc. Novak has actually played in their games.

Their defense may cost them the playoffs, but I'd still wait to judge anything about it.

If I remember correctly, the Suns wanted another asset, Either a pick or one of our young players. So no, the deal wasn't Millsap for Bledsoe. Also, we would be back in the situation of maxing a point guard, which has never won a championship for anyone, ever.
