I think they just need to contract the playoffs to 4-6 teams per conference and go with 5 game series for all of them. This 2 month+ playoff system for the NBA is a joke.

It would be a little better with the current system if every series played every other day instead of waiting 3-5 days between games sometimes.

The DLeague has the best records in the playoffs and it doesn't matter what conference they are in. It could be done.

So conceivably under your plan you could have a 1st round 1 vs 8 matchup of Sacramento vs Miami or Boston/LA ? Playing a 7 game series? Wouldn't that be a big disadvantage for the top seed having to fly cross country over and over in the 1st round?

I agree that it's not broke. Bottom seeds are usually just road kill for the top teams on the road to the title anyway.

That was a fun upset. But they didn't go further. NBA bottom seeds rarely do. So I don't think it's broken.

I have no problem with the East and West thing. I don't see a better way of doing it given the uneven schedules played in the NBA.
