Questions about moving to Canada.

There are many things that I like about Canadian society, and I've been contemplating finding a job and trying out life in Canada. So my question is, how practical would that be? How's the job market for a semiconductors engineer with a diverse cultural, professional, and educational background? Do they have lax immigration policies, or would I need to get sponsored by an employer before attempting the move? Which areas would offer the best opportunities?

Thanks in advance. :D

i allways hear that Canada is very similar to Sweden(i dont only mean the weather),,if thats correct, just move...

Hmmm.

The immigration policies, I would need to do more research on. Quite frankly, you seem more than educated enough though; as a result, I imagine that the Canadian government would probably take much more consideration in giving you citizenship, as opposed to a Tamil Tiger from Sri Lanka. The immigration policies are typically quite relaxed; I know here in Edmonton, we get people moving in from Germany, India, and Pakistan ALL THE TIME. Most of them have engineering-reated jobs as well. Maybe that is simply a reflection of the job boom here in Alberta, though. If you want the highest potential employment for your occupation, try researching the Vancouver/Richmond metropolis area. To my knowledge, that is where some of the larger companies that produce semiconductors are found, and I would assume that that is the sort of place that you're looking for. I don't know much more though, quit frankly

Sorry for not being of much help, but honestly, keep trying to do some research. I friggin love my country, and it honestly offers so many opportunities to people who have the education, but didn't have the employment opportunities in their countries. You should definitely put some consideration into moving here, if you can find a viable job opening, and it is in an area you can feasibly se yourself living in.

Tip: Don't move to Edmonton. This place is unbelievably cold.

Isn't all of Canada cold? (Coming from a guy who has lived in The South his whole life).

Ha. Most of Canada is wonderful in contrast to Edmonton, Winnipeg, and the rest of the prairie cities/towns.

Im wearing shorts right now, and it is one degree centigrade below freezing outside. This weather is "warm" for us Edmontonians right now.

No. I'm your neighbor a couple of hundred miles south.

And thanks a lot Dalamon, that was pretty informative.

South of Turkey. My mother is Syrian and my father is Palestinian. I grew up in Syria and Jordan, but mostly the latter.
