Quick Question #1: What's with Trey Burke's "sleeve"?

Sleeves do nothing. Theyre for looks only. He must have forgotten it a game or two.

That's incorrect. I get tennis elbow sometimes so I'll wear a sleeve when I play basketball when my elbow hurts and it helps so much with the pain. They are pretty helpful actually.

Hmmm.. maybe it'll help with my pornelbow.

oh, that's a different kind of sleeve - more like the one you use to wipe a runny nose...

But seriously the appropriate compression sleeve does reduce swelling in certain medical conditions - you can even get a prescription and insurance will cover the cost. They can be pricey.

So in summary, the best explanation so far are:

1. Hiding his Tattoo: He got a new tattoo and without wanting the scabs to spill all over the court or into other players, he decided to wear the sleeve to protect it. This also explains why he wore it for the first 2 games, but took it off during the game vs Bulls in Salt Lake. (Thank you JGolds for his contribution on this).

2. Sore arms: Coming back from the finger injury, he must have felt soreness in his arm (from all the shooting practices he did once his finger was healed, I would suspect). Because of this he wore the "compression sleeve" as Moe had alluded to, to reduce swelling in certain parts of his arm. (Thank you Moe for your contribution on this. Darwking Duck also seems to have a firsthand experience which supported this claim).

So, which of these do you guys think is the most credible explanation on why Burke wore the sleeve?

Let me hear it guys.

You sure do know how to emcee a scintillating conversation. With a less skilled moderator it might feel that this topic had been beaten into the ground by now, but it looks like you are determined to push it to double digit pages.

Stuff this good, you gotta squeeze out every last drop bro.

BTW which of the above theories do you subscribe to?

PKM - can you please confirm with UK trainers whether the compression sleeve do actually work to reduce soreness???

TIA, bro.

I had a conversation with an assistant back when John Wall was a freshman (he was the first UK player to wear a sleeve). They laughed and said it's a fashion statement.
I seriously have no idea how effective it is vs. fashionista stuff.

Hmmm... 2 credible posters, PKM and Moe, on the opposite sides of the argument on this one. This is interesting.......

Moe - have you had a firsthand experience wearing & playing with the sleeve? Could you please fill us in?
