Injury to our best player and signing a male model to a max contract

I think we've got a good chance of taking this one. For whatever reason, even in our decrepit state we match up well against the Jazz.

Do what you want to us

I've become convinced that the most effective method of torture is to force someone to watch a Grizzlies game. Tie them up in a chair and tape their eyes open. By my estimations it would take only to halftime until you get the information you want from them.

To give you an idea of how gritty this matchup is, the Jazz have not gotten to 100 points the last 28 times these two teams played

And Gobert has slapped Gasol in the face 3 times already (tip off, under the basket on gasols block, and on goberts steal). They both play physical, and the refs are letting em play.

I'm glad it's a Grizzlies home game, my TV tries color correcting the Jazz court

so this is how the Griz die, not with a yell but with 15 straight losses

Memphis coming in clutch in the race to tank

Rudy having the best plus-minus while scoring 4 points is peak Rudy, man's defense is nutty

Why would anyone pay money to watch this team? Besides even if they do get the number one pick you best remember who is doing the picking. Who's up for Hasheem Thabeet round two?

Hey look! Small winning percentage!

see here, this is why i don't like the tank. nobody cares, no posts, no happiness or even disappointment, just disinterested fans. sure the team eventually comes back (maybe) but a lot of fans don't, and often it is in a new city. funny thing is that the Jazz have basically locked themselves here rain or shine, it's a good thing that they aren't tanking. last year i tried to talk to some jazz 'fans' about the team and they had stopped caring, even with how well the team did. the buzz just wasn't there. Donovan has really saved this team!

What a disaster that team is, at every level. It's too bad that we "reward" our best draft prospects by sticking them in situations like that.
How quickly some forget the 25 win team of Utah. Lindsey did his best to get a top-5 pick to hopefully turn around the franchise. Memphis is kind of like SA. They were a playoff team last year, lost a star player to injury and now have will have an opportunity to add another star. For the Spurs it was the start of a dynasty.

How else should teams build? Only a few select ones have stars that want to sign there as FA's. DL followed a tank model to try to build the Jazz. He was handed a solid team and tore it apart. Could have easily re-signed Millsap, Carroll and Foye and brought in a PG and had the team solidly in the playoffs. How do you penalize a GM who decides to tear down a team, lose for several years and get lottery picks?

The league tries to meddle, but trading Pau and rebuilding was the correct move for the Grizzlies years ago (they have the 3rd longest playoff streak in the league, which of course will end). GS tanked to get Barnes. Hinkie was right as all that tanking resulted in Embiid, Simmons and a team on the rise. Cleveland rebuilt by being horrible after Lebron left. Boston, LA Lakers, the aforementioned Spurs, all those teams are where they're at by having seasons in which they made a conscious decision to not be competitive and get good young, CHEAP, talent via the draft.
