What's new

Quotes from Timberwolves' forums-"Keyonte George was 1 of 5 picks Wolves traded for Booty Gobert lmaoooo"

I don't remember Wolves fans as such a cynical, desperate bunch, but it's true that there's extenuating circumstances with all that they've been going through in Minnesota recently.
That's what happens to any fan base with exceptions. Next year will probably be the most enjoyable year of this era (past or future) because expectations won't be super high so any amount of success will be viewed positively.

This^

We have beaten Spurs, Rockets, Wolves, Celtics, Cavs, Pistons and Suns. We also beat the Bulls back when they were 3rd in East. Thats 8 out of our 15 wins coming against teams with winning records. In addition we took OKC to OT and that took SGA a game tying shot.

Is Hardy conjuring a diabolical tank against lottery teams just so he can collect scalps from contenders?
Jazz home court is just too insane.

"Imagine paying rudy 40m and then benching him in crunch time, lol."

For those who are anti tankers this is important to take note of. Jazz got Kessler and Keyonte for Rudy and still have quite a bit more incoming. I really think as painful as this has been, Ainge sold high on Gobert and I loved him. I also fully believe Mitchell would have left at the end of his contract. We just need to hold on and not become impatient. get our pick and win this summer and the Jazz will turn a corner in a big way.

key and kessler > rudy and lauri > donovan. yeah, that's a win even if we don't include anybody else.

The drudgery of tanking is definitely worse. To feel something is better than feeling nothing at all.
With, I think, a single playoff appearance between 2005 and 2021, I'm pretty sure that Timberwolves fans prefer the letdown of the downward slope (BTW, Minnesota is still a legit contender, despite this loss) to the drudgery of losing year after year after year....

Let's wait til Key and the rest of the team actually win anything to declare them better than guys who at least made it to the 2nd round.

Scoring inflation is going to make everyone seem better now than the players of even the recent past

My favorite: "Rudy giving Utah chicken, still a jazz at heart."

Notwithstanding the trashing of Gobert, he's arguably one of the reasons the Timberwolves have gone from 17 years of extended irrelevance to two consecutive conference finals.

Gobert is still an elite defensive presence; however, the lack of a competent point guard to feed him on screens and rolls (his bread and butter with the Jazz) has exposed all his offensive weaknesses: outside of dunks or put-backs, he has no offensive game. When he tries any kind of offensive move, it's so awkward and unskilled that it's almost cringeworthy. But, without him, I don't think the Wolves would be having the success they've been having after such a long, extended drought.
