I've learned that Favors O is developing, slowly, but developing none the less. Hayward is not a #1 or 2 scoring option, but fills up a stat sheet. Burks is going to be very good.
if you want Hayward to be the #1 or 2 option, DeRozen. if you put Hayward next to a star and Burks, and say get them the ball, I'll take Hayward.
That Burks isn't a rotation player?

A lot of what Burks did last year, I feel Hayward is doing this year. He's making a lot of dumb mistakes and taking bad shots outside the context of the offense. Hayward is being asked to carry the team by scoring the ball. He's never done this in the pro's, and never should've been asked to. He should've been asked to be a table setter and let Kanter and Favors do their thing, but what does Corbin do? He tells Hayward to score. Last year and the start of this year I thought Burks pressed a little too much. Now he's being more aggressive, and it's giving him more room to shoot an open midrange shot. So his aggressive play is opening up his midrange game, which inturn opens up driving lanes even more. I hope he continues this. I just hope Corbin hasn't ruined Hayward's game.

I hope that as well. In fact, at this point I'm worried that he has created bad habits on the young guys that another coach will have to correct.

Great game for the tank. I think Corbin is just going through the motions. Hope he's putting those pay checks in a savings account. He's going to be a 2nd or 3rd asst next year for someone.

Not fair to blame Corbin for Hayward's failure as the leader of the team. Hayward's consistency has always been his biggest downfall, that's not something a coach can control.

Why not? Gordon is put in a situation he is not capable of doing. I'm sure if they downgrade his role he'll be more consistent and efficient.

True that Hayward has generally started off slowly, then played better as the season progresses. Some of the blame is on Corbin for not seeing that Hayward is overwhelmed being the primary scorer and playmaker. Hayward could also benefit from fewer mins when he's clearly struggling. Let him sit for an additional 5 mins, calm down, tell him he's trying to do too much and then put him back in. That would (should) also give Burks more minutes.
Part of the blame is on Lindsey. He told Gordon that he would be given more responsibility on the court. Dennis, Ty and Gordon should sit down at this point and revisit that directive. Let Hayward break out of his slump by letting him be the player he was last season, albeit with more shots. Take the ball out of his hands a bit.
Lastly, it's clear Hayward has been pressing this whole season due to his contract situation. On a positive note, maybe his poor numbers make teams pause a bit before offering him a huge contract. Hopefully that happens and Gordon signs a contract closer to the one he was offered last Fall (i.e. about the same as Favors).
