Don't know if a thread like this already exist, but I made a quick search and found nada so I figured we'd get this popping. Simple, X posts a song Y rates it from 1-10 and posts his own song.

As the creator of this future legendary thread I'll kick things off.

That was kinda cute. I guess it's got that "cool" feeling to it if you're in middle school. 5/10 - as it must be rated higher than the song above it.

serious question - because I'm sort of a dinosaur from the generation whose musical experience was primarily audio-based without a visual component other than the artwork on the album cover or cd jewel case...

Are we rating just the audio or does the video part enter into the evaluation?
Because it makes a difference. For the above song:

Music only - 5/10 - it's decent, sort of spooky and mysterious sounding; reminds me of the stuff college guys would blast in their dorm rooms if they were thinking maybe their girlfriend was going to break up with them

Music and audio - 7/10 - the visuals are interesting and add to the overall effect so I rate it higher with the visual than just the music on its own

I like the song that is sampled, unless I am crazy the chorus is actually the Andrew Sisters? Anyways I wasn't fully sold on the mashup, although the swing mixed with reggie was an interesting combination but just didn't sound very good on this track. 4/10, and mostly because of Andrew Sisters parts.

To answer your question, it is up to you how you want to rate it, if you think a music video adds something you could give it a plus, I'd like for people to mainly rate the sound but for me, a good music video can do a lot for a song.
