Real or staged?

My guess is staged for sure but kinda ballsy to drop it with the candles lit.

The Jazz dancer also seems not to be in on the joke.
I would hope the jazz organization has more sence then to drop a cake on a bunch of fans and avoid hurting or injuring someone, and avoiding any kind of lawsuit. How dumb would it be to show up a season ticket holder.

If its real Im sure those fans were compensated heavily.

Though if you watch bear he is looking down and almost aiming.

I'm leaning towards fake, but I think only Bear knew the plan.
The guy with the mic obviously didn't know, I don't know about the dancers, but Bear was scoping thing out before it went down.
Pun intended.

I was in the section next to it and it was totally a set up. Bear looks over before dropping it, the guy on the mic tells Bear to give us a better look of the cake, there's 3 different camera angles of the cake dropping, and the fourth camera is already in position to get the fans reaction. The candles are real and I'm guessing they figured they'd blow out from the wind created by dropping the cake.

The fans hit weren't in on it and from what I read on facebook, they were given tickets to another game. The bearded guy said he couldn't get the blue frosting out of his jacket though.

Fake based on how the many cameras were in position and caught the fall. One of them was in position for the fall and not the rest.

These are always staged. The fan that fights the bear and ends up covered in beer or when the so an on court competition between a jazz fan and fan of the opponent and screw the non jazz fan over in some way. Always entertaining always staged.

Did you get Nickelback tickets last night? I picked the right game to sit in another section.

What pun?

The camera shot at 0:55 means that it was staged. No way a camera would have been able to catch the fall all the way down witha tight focus if it had happened suddenly and unexpectedly.

Oh, and Bear is awesome!

Yes I saw it and yes was staged, I've seen them do the exact same thing before. Not a big deal. The candles are blown out during the fall. 95% of the people that have these things done to them at the game love it. The people who were the most covered in cake on this one were laughing and rubbing it on each others face.

Fake. I was at a game 2 years ago against Portland. A guy behind me wearing a Portland jersey tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I am doing a skit with the bear. He's going to throw water on me at the end of the 3rd quarter. If you don't want to get wet, I suggest you move over." There were empty seats next to me. I asked the guy if he worked for the Jazz and he said no. He was a good friend to the guy in the bear suit and they did these skits every once in a while. Anyways, bear sprayed him with silly string around the beginning of the 3rd quarter. He kept going back and heckling the guy. With about 5 minutes left in the third, the guy stands up, follows the bear down the isle and poured his beer on the bears head. The best part was how angry the fans were. They wanted to kill the guy. I sat and laughed at how serious everyone was. Bear comes back with a bucket of water with about 2 minutes left in the third. Crowd goes crazy.

Seriously, the bear is the best part about going to the game vs watching at home, other than the opportunity to go nuts and act like an *** along with 20,000 other people.

I absolutely love the Bear, he is definitely one of the best in the business. Was anyone at the hornets game? I thought he did the best skit during it.

He came out with a fire extinguisher made to look like a bug sprayer and also had a type of gas mask on and went spraying around the court. After about two minutes of this he stopped and suddenly from the ceiling something fell, then another and another they were small hornet stuffed animals. Then a whole bunch of them started to fall while the bear started to collect them in a bin. Then a huge Hornet stuff animal fell from the ceiling and the bear then picked it up and left the floor while all the ball boys collected the 30+ other stuff animals. It was awesome!!
