Realistic Burke value

It is truly so very sad to see the lack of appreciation and disrespect directed to Burke. No matter what the haters say he is the most offensively gifted point guard we have on our team. He may just be in the wrong offensive system and team but that's no need to knock him as bad as you guys are doing.

I think you hit the nail on the head talking about system fit. Burke isn't a guy you play off ball and expect huge production. He's a ball dominant guard. Which has it's advantages and disadvantages. He needs floor spacing and/or high flying finisher to be at his maximum effectiveness similar to what he had at Michigan. His assist rate was promising his rookie year because he had Williams and Jefferson to space the court and Evans to finish.

worth exploring, if only for the Rudy connection. I can see Evan helping our bench.
would you be willing to part with anything else to get him? If so, what?

EDIT: nvm
They have Napier, CJ Watson, and Payton... not really sure why they'd want Burke unless they just knew they weren't going to commit to Evan on his next deal.

I highly doubt there would be interest. I could see the Pelicans having interest (someone above mentioned ish Smith... there is a reason he has bounced around the league for 5 years). Not sure what they have that we would want or why we'd want to help them. It might be an inside job like we did with Kanter though... send him out to destroy a competitor while picking up assets.

I think maybe we should give it a few games though. There is still hope in me that he figures it out and neto is already nicked up. We kind of need the depth.

Let's give Trey 15-20 games before making judgement here. He wasn't the sole reason we lost. Look at Brandon Jennings last year. Looked like garbage early then went on a tear before getting injured.

Honestly Jennings might be a guy to go after when he is back. I think they are locked into Jackson as a starter and like Blake as the backup. Might not be a lot of minutes for him there. We need some time to assess what we have and let some teams rotations fill out and more deals will present themselves.

Let the Jello settle guiys!

Lol
How many points per game did Evans average? How many assists for trey did Evans generate?

I wouldn't imagine a ton. Evans really didn't play much. My point was he threw some alleys to him throughout the season. Don't have an exact number but I'd guess Trey threw more alley oops to Evans than any other player that year.

I'd venture to say the Jazz could get Calderon for Burke straight up from the Knicks. Works in the trade finder. Calderon is owed 7.8 mil in '16/'17 though.

I'd rather offer Burke and a 2nd for Jerian Grant. What did you think of him pre-draft?

Burke just needs to embrace his roll as backup PG. It was safe to think that there was something in him after being named Player of the Year in college but he hasn't lived up to those expectations.
He can be a solid backup PG though. If he embraces this role I don't know what else you could ask from him.

Problem is that he has to become just less than dreadful in defense...
