came up with this idea in the draft thread but was wondering what you all thought of this idea. a couple hypotheticals need to be taken into account. 1st jazz end up with the 7th pick in the draft. 2nd the team that gets #1 is in the east and would do this trade.

trade favors and kanter for #1, illyosava and delfino.

draft embiid #1
draft Vonleh #7

sign deng this summer with a front loaded 3 year deal

also resign Hayward

Burke, Neto
Hayward, burks
deng, delfino (not going to get many minutes most back up minutes to burks)
vonleh, illyosava
embiid, Gobert

defense and scoring this would be a tough team to beat in 2 to 3 years. under salary cap.

Umm, what?

I'm confused as to why you think Embiid and Vonleh would be better than Favors and Kanter. I've watched both and neither screams "star", IMO. Furthermore, I'm almost certain we'd be the new version of the Sam Bowie story. I'm not saying I know who I'd take out of Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Smart etc, but my money is on Embiid not being the best out of that group. Good? Likely. Better than Favors? Not at all convinced.

I don't really mind this, but it seems like the only reason it could really be better is because of Deng. This team feels a lot like the Cavs this year. Maybe better long term, but I think expecting huge minutes out of Vonleh and Embiid right off the bat is a little too ambitious.

I really like Embiid as a prospect (and vonleh too to some extent), but in year one he will not be better than Favors. I guess freeing up the 12 mil is nice, but I feel like you're kind of re-rebuilding more than you think. Just for reference, there is no way Vonleh would be playing significantly more minutes than Ily off the bat.

More importantly, I don't get this trade at all for a team like the Bucks. They NEED a home-run type pick, Favors and Kanter are nice players but they would never even consider this.

it would never happen. my problem is I fall in love with players in the draft and in 3 years embiid and vonleh could be the best defensive front line in basketball and possible just the best.

I agree ily would start first year.

why Milwaukee does it

- they are stupid
- 2 for 1
- get rid of 2 bad contracts
- they are stupid

Well, the Bucks do want to be good now and make the playoffs. Favors/Kanter would certainly help them make the playoffs next season more than Embiid would.

But this is obviously not happening.

Though, I do like the idea of pairing Embiid with Vonleh. Embiid would be the low post presence and Vonleh spreads the floor. Very nasty on defense.

But again, this ain't happening. And that's fine cause a Favors/Kanter pairing still has a ton of promise.
