Refs Admit missed call in the Portland Game

it was the worst officiate jazz game this year. The refs royally ****ed us.

My biggest pet peeve is Rudy getting called for fouls when the only contact is the other player extending their off arm. It happens a lot. I'd send tape to the league if I was the Jazz. It is a fairly big swing when a guy goes up vertically and likely makes the guy miss and if anything there should be an offensive foul, but the refs give our most important player a foul and the other team gets gifted two points.

Favs gets these too.

One thing I wondered is if they could review this for a technical since it was above the shoulder contact. oh well... hopefully this one brings attention to the issue.

The offensive player initiating contact and getting the foul call is a huge problem. Look at Harden and that arm sweep he does. Favors' arm was in that space before Harden moved his arm into the same space. If the space was already occupied how is that a foul? That is crap. That and things like extending a foot or leaning into the defensive player. They really need to make the call on who initiated contact.

Yes and he should. The tech was for complaining in a way that was not respectful to the ref or the game. He was right to complain, wrong in how he did it.

Otherwise known as every trip up and down the court for Harden and Chris Paul. Man those guys cry a lot.

One of my biggest gripes about officiating is allowing the offensive players to swing their arms purposely under the defender's arms to get the foul. It should be an offensive foul every time.

Backtracking or sidetracking should be called the other way much more often as well when it's the offensive player initiating contact. Making players plant their feet or forcing them into allowing a blow by layup has made the game frustrating to watch.

Yes. Report every one of them. I got banned for either (a) an obviously playful and harmless encounter wherein I made a silly mom joke, or (b) was baited by a crybaby (who wasn’t punished, of course) and then hammered by misreading and ridiculous mods.

Anyway, the precedent is set. Go for it.
