Refs & Cavs vs. Jazz

Karl Malone doesn't like to complain about the refs much, but Karl Malone knows the refs gave this game to Cleveland. The refs called 14 more fouls on the Jazz than the Cavs. Karl Malone also can see that the Cavs shot 15 more free throws than the Jazz.

Karl Malone knows this game wasn't fully fair. Discuss!

I agree, Mr. Malone. Adam Silver is in love with LeBron James.
Karl Malone thinks there needs to be some way to prove this. Because it is true. Karl Malone will re-watch the game and analyze the fouls. These refs either sucked or were trying to help Cleveland win. So lame.

Jazz shot 4 free throws after getting into the bonus in the third quarter. Cleveland shot 16 in that same period.

Part of it is that vets seem to know how to grab and hold and get away with it while the Jazz get whistled for looking crosseyed. I suspect as the Jazz get older and more experienced they will learn the tendencies of the Refs and other players and develop a reputation for defense, the calls will probably even out a bit more.

Yeah, this.

Karl Malone shouldn't complain about refs...once upon a time Karl Malone also got superstar treatment from the refs.

I heard Locke saying that one of the refs last night wasn't even on the NBA refs roster. That was the ref who called at least two phantom fouls on Favors. They were speculating that he might have been a last minute call up from the D-League because one of the crew chief refs was injured in a game (can't recall the circumstances they described, maybe even a heart attack or something) two nights ago.

I usually don't like to complain about the refs but yesterday they really disadvantaged the Jazz, especially in the 3rd quarter! It has been shameful!

Yup. The real Mr. Malone would never bring up the refs. This persona is complete garbage.
Karl Malone is confused. How can you say what Karl Malone will do when I am Karl Malone and Karl Malone does what Karl Malone does. Why would you say Karl Malone wouldn't bring up the refs when Karl Malone is right here on Jazzfanz bringing up the refs. Are you stupid? Karl Malone thinks you might be stupid.

I only watched the 2nd half, but, I didn't see anything that bad with the officiating. You know what I saw? Jazz playing their hearts out and Lebron being superman. I fully enjoyed watching that game, even with the loss. I even was rooting for Lebron a bit there, man was incredible. I kinda felt bad for Hood getting that defensive assignment. Looked like he was giving up about a hundred pounds there. Couldn't even stop him with an intentional foul.

(I question the decision to leave Hood on Lebron if you want to read between the lines there)

Both Hood and Burks looked like teenage sons in the driveway with Dad.

Overall the refs were fine. I just want consistency... if you aren't going to call anything when Favors gets thrown to the ground then don't call a foul on him on the other end for ticky tack stuff 40 feet from the basket.

You can't point to difference in fouls called or free throws to prove that officiating was unfair.

This is true. Overall I feel like Hayward and Favors get more non-called contact than any of the players I watch. I honestly wonder if it is because the don't complain enough. Favors has been more vocal, but Hayward will just look down at his arm and give the ref a look. I don't want them to whine, but I wonder if they were assholes every now and again if they'd get more calls.

Karl Malone agrees with this, all the difference is that it could be an indicator. Karl Malone knows the NBA. Karl Malone wants to ask you if you feel the game was riffed fairly. Karl Malone don't think so.
