REFS - NBA trying to give this series to LA

Speights tried to commit an intentional foul to stop the break, something the Jazz do constantly. It just happened to be while Hood committed a jump pass. Pushing a guy in the stomach isnt a flagrant foul, at least not with the force Speights used. Please stop crying about this, it's embarrassing.

Hood had both feet in the air, and was pushed in the chest. It wasn't anything close to play on the ball, he could have fouled Hood on either of his arms if he was trying to stop the pass. Watch Derrick Favors foul Chris Paul the same way, and see Faves get ejected for a Flagrant 2. I'm not saying it was a F2, but it was an F1, especially the way that the refs have been calling them this year.

Again, what was excessive or violent about it? Was there anything violent about that push? He barely pushed him at all, it was just as he went to foul Hood jumped to make a pass. Really question how petty you are being when complaining about this. It's the playoffs.

It was excessive. There was no play on the ball. His feet were in the air, and he could easily have fallen awkwardly. If there is such a thing as a flagrant foul, I don't know how a 2 hand shove to the chest with a player in the air doesn't apply.

And the 3 point foul we are outraged over. Isn't that something we constantly cry about being a foul when we play James Harden? That's a regular season foul, not something refs are giving you in the final minutes of a playoff game. Hayward will learn that. It sucks that we didnt get it in the moment, but Im glad the refs dont fall for the **** in the playoffs. They should call it a foul on the floor still and I hope the NBA will address that in the off-season to properly call the foul as a personal foul on the floor and not in a shooting motion.

Its the inconsistency of the refs that is the problem. If you call that for anyone (which I don't think you should) you have to call it for everyone. If the change the rule to get players to stop trying to draw fouls that way, I would be the first one cheering, but until that happens, players are going to try to take advantage, and you need to call it for everyone the same.

Not being a "play on the ball" isnt ground for a flagrant. If that were the case, then a lot more of these intentional fouls could be called flagrants.

The #1 thing that triggers flagrant calls in teh modern day are big windups (usually on block attempt) and contact to the head. Neither of those things happened to Hood. I agree it was borderline, but I appreciate it not being called a flagrant.

They havent been calling it in the playoffs. Like it or not there is clearly an unwritten rule of more contact being allowed in the playoffs. Maybe our fanbase has forgotten this universal concept since we havent been in the playoffs for so long.

Dont you remember Speights doing the same thing to Diaw and the refs swallowed the whistle?

I saw it called a few times in the Houston/OKC game I watched iirc. I wish they would call that a non-shooting foul, and not reward the player for throwing up a shot they would never take if there hadn't been contact. It would eliminate the players from heaving the ball after the contact.

But in this series has it been called?

We shot 22 free throws, they shot 6 before we started fouling them to stop the clock. What a ****ing pathetic thread, I'd be ashamed if fans of other teams came here and saw how whiny people around here are.
This. I agree there were missed calls. Speight's push was a borderline flagrant foul. The guy was flustered and frustrated not dangerous or malicious. I don't love it, but the refs made a reasonable decision. It did serve to signal at least an unspoken warning to the players on both teams. And no way Deandre should have been thrown out for trying to take the dead ball. We had some favorable calls/non calls ourselves. OP needs to check their perspective.

This actually benefits Jingles who is physical a hell, but doesn't get called out on it. Just need the Jazz bigs to keep up at that level. Rudy would have. Losing him hurts more than ANY other player in this series. Period.

Slow starts are killing the Jazz. Tonight was too much to overcome. Need to get out ahead and run away for a change. Hopefully the energy in SLC will help with that.
