Rep Power Per Post Challenge.

At the risk of sounding like a dork, I was a little late to this Reputation thing - I clicked on "Settings" one day and saw about 3 months of Reputation comments from other posters along with some nice comments (and a few not so nice comments). I never realized they were documented. Oh well

So then with all the stat geeks on here I thought we'd compare Rep Power Per Post. Total number of posts divided by reputation points given.

Mine is 2634/19 = 138.631

Who is the highest Quality Poster here?

Great concept. Bad math.

if you want a positive correlation between rep received in comparison to contributions posted, the formula would be r/p.

reputation per post, with something like True Value as a Community Member = reputation divided by posts contributed.

When Jason is trying sell advertising in here, the stat geeks who bicker about the price don't look at the rep given, only the number of visitors each day or maybe, if they are really quibbling about bang for their advertising buck, the number of "contributions".

Long live freedom. We can all figure out our own value systems.

by your formula given above mine is 2130 or so/17. No calculator on hand, but brain onboard, I'd say that's 128 or something.

5520/31 = 178

Might I suggest we use total rep points / posts

in which case I'm at 1.065

i think you would need to take into account how long the persons have been members as well.

This formula debate all reminds me a bit of Jr. High. Eventually we settled on (length + (1/3 * girth)).

Not completely sure how to convert rep to inches, though.

Divide by 7 and you'll get the same score you did in HS.

Not sure what you mean by "score", pervert. To be clear, we were attempting to find a shortcut method of comparing relative tensile strengths of differently-sized metallic alloy rods in our science class.

Not only that, but how many posts you have. Post whores get higher rep that has nothing to do with quality.

That said, based on Candrew's formula I'm approx 196.8

That's what I thought you meant. And that rod in your hand you were attempting to measure scored a 3.

It's Bordy, far and away.

135.3

Edit: BTW, the lower the number the better. So I'm winning.

Edit: It's 129.1 now!

This. Rep power isn't all based on quality. Rep points you receive are based on perceived quality from other posters.

well, that and post count and time on this board. Colton, how can we see the total of raw rep points we've been given? and how about disclosing the equation so we can all squabble about it yet again, and maybe start some kind of hate thread based on how the formula isn't fair, or something???????
