Idea: players set to enter restricted free agency are allowed to be traded after the deadline of their final contract year (with their cap number being the Qualifying Offer, MLE, or cap hold number) before July 1st. The player in that instance is reserved the right to either a (cap-less) trade kicker if traded or a no-trade clause.

Literally everyone wins.

I'm in... Send Silver an e-mail. Let's get this pushed through tomorrow.

Sounds good. I think the "right" to match an offer definitely has value. And if the agent can somehow get another team to offer a ridiculous amount....well, that's the chance you took when making the deal. The only restriction I would put on that is the team making the trade cannot then sign that same player to an offer sheet during free agency.

Burks is good, but Favors would be harder to replace.

Agreed. Unless we wanted to overpay in FA we'd probably have to wait until the 2015 draft for a long-term replacement big. Kanter, Gobert, Tomic and [filler] would have to do the trick next season.

Given a choice between the two, I prefer the Burke + #5 for #2 rumor (Wiggins/Jabari) to Favors + #5 + [filler] for #1.

Burks is just another guy in the league. Including him isn't a big deal.

Kid's special. Not many with his combination of speed, leaping ability, ballhandling, and magical finishing ability. I'm not sure what clicked with him this year between being worse than he's ever been and then suddenly being better than he's ever been, but I think he's the best piece the Jazz have right now (which isn't necessarily saying much). He also has the best body language of anyone of the original "Core 4".

Yes.

Disagree... top 15 PER for shooting guard last year and is only 22. Had a miserable start last year and was great after the all-star break. He's going to score 20 per this season... unless he's on the Cavs.

I love Burks but....
