I guess Lakers did not think it was enough.

Would this be enough for the Lakers?

Or would we have to include Millsap instead of Jefferson

Mo Williams - JJ - Watson
Hayward - Burks - Murphy
D-Will - Webster - Murphy
Millsap - Kanter
Favors - Kanter

We would decline options on Tinsley & Carroll. Also we would save money in cap space.

Derrick Williams has lost 15 pounds so far this summer according to reports this past week so he can play the 3 position.

Are we giving up too much? Seems like we don't want Harris anyways if we can get Mo Williams. So we are practically trading Jefferson or Millsap for JJ and Williams.

I'll think about this.

But, you should also think about how your trade clears a huge amount of cash for our most hated team. They could be screwed for a while...

Fair point. But by the time our team develops fully will Kobe even be a factor anymore?

No. But the free agents and unequal trades they're able to pull will. I want a few more years of them declining while we cut our teeth. Plus, I'm just not that interested in the players we get back. Dunno. Williams is intriguing if he has dropped some weight and is committed to the SF.

That DWill makes me sick. No thanks.

Hell I would do it.

This give us Williams as a sf to play behind hayward and he can even back up at PF. Plus we get a great back up PG in Berea. Considering we would be getting Mo and Martel webster can back up Burks.

Most importantly it opens up room for Favors and Kanter.

yeah, anything that ships Jefferson out of town would be great... I'm just not thrilled about bailing out the Lakers.

I hear ya on bailing out the Lakers, but lets be honest its is going to happen anyway, at least in this senario we also benifit.

Why would we trade for the guy who might develop into Millsap when we already have Millsap?
Ummm...
I don't think logic is allowed on this board.

Twin,
I like your effort, but Lakers already have a much better center in Bynum. Why would they want Jefferson?
Now I could see them have interest in Millsap, but Paul is just too nice a guy. I don't want to see him in purple and gold. EVER!

I don't think they are the same player. Williams is more mobile on the perimeter and can get to the hoop quicker. He showed he could shoot the 3 in College at a high percentage. And he looked good when given the minutes last year. If he really is 15 pounds lighter I think it would be a steal. Millsap says he only likes playing the 4. Williams says he is a 3. 1 is committed to playing SF and 1 is not.
Williams is also 6 years younger than Millsap and will be cheaper than Millsap.

If the Jazz think he can play the 3 position after losing the weight than I think it is worth the risk. But I would not do the trade if we think he is a 4. I personally think he is a 3.

GlassEater - I think your right about Millsap. I think that is more realistic. I honestly don't care about where he goes. We shouldn't sacrifice the team for the sake of Millsap's happiness.
Do we care more about the Jazz or hating the Lakers? Are we Jazz fanz or Laker Haters?

you hit the nail on the head. You know the lakers are going to pull something off to remain competative. It might as well be the Jazz that benefit. And I call getting rid of the black hole a benefit no matter where he goes.

Can we still resign Hayward, Favors, Burks, and Kanter if we do this trade? If not Hell no, and He'll no to helping the Lakers.

Alright, if you guys are going to twist my arm, I'll give you another trade idea:

There will probably be some more pieces involved, but here's the gist:

UTA trades Al
PHI trades Iggy
LAL trades Pau

UTA gets Pau
PHI gets Al
LAL gets Iggy

Bring on the hate cap hoarders.

Even though the Lakers would have already said "no," I wouldn't do this trade because I'm really not a fan of Derrick Williams' game as is. I think he could be a terrific power forward if he applied himself and made a committment to crash the boards but he thinks he's a perimeter SF which IMO marginalizes his talent. He definitely has more ability at the 3 than Sap, but not enough to consider him a cornerstone at that position and Sap's intangibles (effort, reliablity and toughness) make him to valuable to take on a player going through what I like to call an "identity crisis."

Would this be enough for the Lakers?
Umm no. Why on earth would the Lakers want Al Jefferson?

Why would we trade for the guy who might develop into Millsap when we already have Millsap?
Because Derrick Williams is on a rookie contract while Millsap will be a free agent in 2013 and likely command between an $8-10 million salary.
If Derrick Williams was committed to being a PF, I would seriously consider adding him at the expense of Millsap (moving Jefferson would be a no-brainer for me) because I still think he has tremendous talent (particularly at PF) and the rookie contract makes him extremely valuable compared to Millsap (we're talking a difference in the range of $3-5 million annually for the next 3 years). It's just disappointing Williams is putting all his effort into being a SF.

I agree with most here.

The Lakers want no part of Jefferson until they are done trying to convince Orlando to take Gasol or Bynum as the main piece for Howard. But, hypothetically, this trade does solve future financial issues.

since we are, therefore, dealing strictly with hypotheticals... I'll take Williams for Jefferson 8 days a ****ing week.

Let me improve:
