Revisiting Mike Conley in Free Agency

I was against this at first but the more i think about it a 3 year max contract might be worth getting him.

The reason i was against this at first was Exum is my guy and the future but upon further consideration Dante can get all the back up minutes at pg and the back up minutes at the 2.

I regret that it wouldnt leave many if any minutes for burks. The best way to get Conley would be with a sign and trade with memphis. The need a 2 guard and the jazz have burks. Through in burke and or mack.

With conley the jazz would be a play off team easily. He is a great defender and an above average shooter. He sees the floor well and from what i hear a good leader. He will instantly make the jazz players better.

The thing that convinced me the most is he would be a great mentor for dante. Sure we lose 3 years of dante leading the team but in 3 years we get a more mature and deadly dante. If dante explodes during that time you move conley.

Draft maker for the potential. They would have time to develop him behing Gobert and Withey.

Go out and make a sweet offer to bazemore. He is a high energy player that would be a boon for the second team.

To round out the roster you could even see if booker would come back for a vet/mentor role.

Going into the season the jazz would look like this

Conley, Exum, Neto
Hood, exum,
Hayward, bazemore, ingles
Favors, lyles, booker? Or a second pick
Gobert, withey, maker

Whatcha all think?

DEvelop Thon behind Whitey. If he isn't good enough from day 1 to be btter then Withey then I wouldn't draft him. Whitey is a scrub and im not sure the obsession with him here. Is it ladies and they like his looks? Because he is one of the worse ballers in the league honestly

No .....slow mo team ! Need speed at PG ,like Exums !

Conley used to be Jet quick. His father was an oplympic track star. Do you know anything about hoops or you just the ultimate fan type for his team? Because Conley is not slow. Maybe he played in a slower offense but that guy is quick. You can say but he is old and Exum is young and il lreply that Conley has shown he can do it on the court, He is proven and Exum isn't.

Big problem with this plan is he's going to get a five year max from Memphis. So at minimum we'd need to offer a four year max then he'd have to decide to pass up a **** ton of money to come here... No way he sign on for 3 years.

Everyone is getting paid this summer. 2/3 of the league had a max spot and some teams have two. If a FA finds tough sledding they will just go visit Brooklyn or philly and they will get their max offer sheet. Similar to what Wes Matthews did with Sacramento... Use the crappy market as leverage to get the big deal.

There is truth to this.

Hey Junior Jazz fan ,been watching ball way longer than you have ,I can tell by your junior high comments. He plays with two 34 yr olds and a 31 yr old player in a slow paced offense. He will be 29 yrs old before the upcoming season ,well past his jet days .Jazz aren't playing Exum to walk it up the court like the Memphis team does.Conley will stay where he's comfortable.
