Ric bucher: Breaking jazz news!!

Bucher doesn't work for ESPN. He works for Comcast Sportsnet and covers the Warriors in the Bay Area. He's not as credible as he was at ESPN.

He actually very credible. Think about it.......... he covered all his bases. One of those things he said HAS to happen. He's a genius.

So at best his correct info rate is 33%. Not very good.

"...the exec said it's very conceivable that both could wind up in a different uniform by next season." Of course it is! They'll both be UNRESTRICTED FA's and there's not a snowball's chance in Salt Lake the Jazz can or even would re-sign both. We're not talking LeBron and Dwayne here. Kevin O'Lindsey is not giving any insider info to Bucher. If SA's offer of Splitter and Mills is the best Utah gets, then the Jazz will just keep Jefferson. Mills is not much of an upgrade over Tinsley. And Splitter is expiring, just like Jefferson - or maybe he has an option. Either way, it's almost guaranteed Tiago wouldn't re-up. He'll get a very good multi-year offer.

Splitter is Restricted, so that has value.
Plus, he's a good bench guy.

I'd take Mills and Splitter 8 days a week. Slide me the paperwork.

an opposing team executive said there is more league-wide interest in Al Jefferson.

If true, this actually shows the beauty of KOC and Corbin's grit throughout this process. They've held steady while others try to lowball pieces away. I believe they've seen enough of the Core 3 to see the future and are willing to be patient even if that means letting Jeffy & Sap walk.

Getting nothing while holding out for something is better strategy than getting next to nothing while giving up all your options.

What it comes down to then is, are the Jazz being offered something that is better than the flexibility they get if they do nothing.

Now the real question is why is Dennis Lindsey or Kevin O'Conner talking to Bucher? I thought the Jazz usually keep quite about their plans. Thats the only explanation on how this information was leaked out. The only other option is that Bucher is using magic to get in contact with Larry Miller's ghost.
He quotes an opposing team executive, so the Jazz tradition of leakproof OpSec continues.

If there really is interest in Jefferson from multiple teams, and other execs know this, the Jazz should be able to run a silent auction and get the best price for him, should they decide to move him.
