What's new

RIGHT NOW - 76ers

I would trade Kanter for Saric, but I doubt they would. He would be an ideal stretch 4, although his lack of length would hurt on defense and rebounding. I really love Saric though.

I like him, but I feel like we have a bigger need for athletes and shooters.

GS has been brought up, but how about Oklahoma City?
They went with youth three years in a row and let that talent develop, knowing they would be near the top of the lottery every year: Durant (2), Westbrook (4) Harden (3) and also Ibaka (24). They executed a rebuild via the draft to perfection. Oh yeah, don't forget they also dumped their veterans (Ray Allen and Glen Davis) in exchange for the 5th pick which became Jeff Green. Where are the haters who say they should have signed FA's and tried to make the playoffs instead of playing for draft picks?

Now I'm not saying any of the players Philly has are equal to those above. But the potential was certainly there when the strategy was laid out. I'm sure Philadelphia was hoping to get their "Durant" by drafting Wiggins or Parker. Noel was also projected as a top-3 pick had he been healthy 2 drafts ago. Add an almost certain top-3 pick this season and they'll have a ton of talent. McDaniels looks like a steal and Wroten is solid. MCW is much like Trey Burke. Sure they want to upgrade if possible and get a more reliable shooter at PG - so do we.

As some have stated, Jazz should have gone down this road earlier (when Deron was traded). Instead we were a fringe playoff team, fighting for the 8th seed (and the privilege of getting swept) and drafting late in the lottery (or not at all). We should have had both the GS pick by finishing with a worse record AND our own (it was lottery-protected, IINM).

Will this Sixers team go down as the worst in NBA history?

Gotta admire the boldness of their rebuild. **** playing it safe (like Utah did for so long). It'll be interesting to see if it works out for them. Embiid's health is the main key. If he can get on the court and stay there, he could eventually take the league by storm like Davis is doing now.

And where is the line between rebuilding and tanking?

Sorry, I see a Philadelphia franchise committed to their young players, and refusing to outbid other teams for mid-tier FA's who would play in front of those youngsters. After the butt-kicking they took in Dallas, they came back and almost won at Houston.

Philadelphia got something for their veterans at the trade deadline; Utah just let theirs walk without getting any compensation. Which is the smarter team?
I don't remember what philly got for Evan turner or spencer hawes, but I remember it being comically little for productive nba players. Philly gave away their players just to get rid of them.

Pretty sure they said on NBAtv that their 0-11 start is now the worst ever.

Turner was traded with Lavoy Allen for Danny Granger and a 2nd. Hawes was traded for a couple of scrubs and two 2nds. Rebuilding moves. Some are better than others, but I don't see anything too outlandish.

Philly got what was offered. Neither of those players was in their plans, They had zero interest in offering them contracts. At least they got SOMETHING! Contrast that with Utah which got nothing for players like Carroll, Millsap, Jefferson, Foye and Marvin Williams. Now I do admit the size of some of those contracts made trades difficult, but you would think we could have perhaps gotten second-rounders for a few of them.

No worries, Philadelphia is bringing Furkan The Savior Aldemir. They are now my favorite in the 2015 NBA finals.
