Rockets offering Scola, Battier, Ariza in sign-and-trade packages

Houston proposed a trade for Boozer over a year ago that involved Scola and Battier, I think. They have some interest in Boozer.

Not buying that but I know some folks on boards posted it. I am guessing their statement that if they could not get Bosh or Amare they would resign Scola is accurate.

**** Ariza. We don't need another SF that can't shoot.

I actually don't think Ariza is that bad of a shooter. In fact, I think he's pretty good. the problem is that Houston had absolutely no structure. Ariza isn't a "franchise" player. He's a good 3rd or 4th scorer.

Ariza has some jets and is a beast defending; super quick. He'd still be a Laker but his agent wanted a big contract, so the Lakers dumped him. Signing him could be an issue with us...

Ariza is an overpaid, bonafide scrub. Shooting percentages of 39/64/33. He makes Miles look like an all star.

thats stretching

Somewhat, but he is overpaid player who cant make his own shot to save his life. He was great in LA as a 4th option, but he is horrible with out someone setting him up. I actually think Miles could do better in the Houston situation than Ariza could, and vice versa, I think Ariza would be better in Utah than Miles.

Ariza was transitioning from a role as a pure 5th option on offense and defensive specialist to a primary option (even as a ballhandler, something he'd never done in his career) in the span of less than a season. He might even be better next year in that role, but utilized as a premier role player and he becomes more valuable (and certainly worth the MLE, IMO).
