Rodney Hood Refuses to Enter Game in Garbage Time

I don't know if there were other factors, but I do remember that there were reports after the trade from Jazz insiders that Hood was unhappy in his role. Seems like it's the same in Cleveland. It looks like he envisions himself being a better player than he currently is.

That’s his own damn fault though.

Once Hayward bolted for Boston and we drafted Mitchell, “Plan A” wasn’t to throw our franchise on a rookies back and hope for the best. I think we all remember that not too long ago this front office and coaching staff were looking to Hood to step up and fill the scoring void left by the Hayward/Hill departures. The Jazz were basically begging Hood to be “The Man” and gave him every opportunity to do so. The dude simply doesn’t have what it takes.

I want to feel sorry for Hood, but I just can't. He had a chance to be "the guy" and Mitchell emerged instead. He had a chance to be a starter playing next to one of the greatest players of all time, and he couldn't do it.

Cleveland should let him go and he should go somewhere like Atlanta or Sacramento. Maybe Igor can save him in Phoenix. Regardless, DL did an amazing job getting Crowder.

I still remember how excited we were in summer league of Hoods rookie season he was going to be a guy that could initiate the offense, score, and shoot lights out. All he did was get worse every year.

Man, I still remember people saying we didn't need Haywood because of Hood, and he was going to be better than him in no time.

Some of these are dumb only in retrospect. This view was obviously dumb even at the time.

I can remember a couple of years ago when he went off and scored 30 in the first half against Kobe and the Lakers. How times have changed.

Poor guy, probably couldn't play because he was sure one end or the other was going to erupt from stomach distress, I sure miss him...said no Jazz fan ever.

About the worst move he could make, your team just advanced man.

Quite a ride for our #1 option Hood.

If it was stress related, and garbage time in the playoffs is too much stress, then the NBA might not be good for him. If he was mad about his reduced role and was throwing a fit, then he might not be good for the NBA.
