Where’s the pro life party now?

Republicans seem fine aborting children as long as they’re brown or black.

Elections have consequences. Those who didn’t vote for Harris, did this to these people.

In light of this thread, it has been obvious for literal decades that the pro-life movement cares only about unborn fetuses and not living human beings. They are just fine with substandard and straight up cruel treatment of actual living human beings as long as it forces more women to produce said living human beings so they can be cruel to them too.

I'll never understand why abortion wasn't codified into federal law in the decades since Roe v. Wade.

Because pro choice candidates never had a filibuster proof majority to codify it.

Guys, there’s no grand conspiracy here. Democrats weren’t fundraising off of it (republicans certainly have). It’s just never been an animating feature on the left, just like Supreme Court justices have never been a priority of the left either. There’s just not the same money or infrastructure on the left to have codified it.

Sometimes, the votes just aren’t there.

Besides, as Sardines said, Roe v Wade was pretty well established and even now many suffer a failure of imagination on how republicans can and will limit women’s freedom.

Which is why we need to reframe it completely. Being pro life needs to mean something other than just being against choice.

That is akin to saying we shouldn't have laws against murdering people if we don't support cradle-to-the-grave socialism. The pro-life movement cares about not giving a smile and a nod to mothers killing their children. Speaking for myself, I support a social safety net for the indigent, and we have one. Where we seem to disagree is my wanting to use our social safety net to help those who need it while the pro-choice crowd support maintaining the choice to kill off some of the most vulnerable so they aren't a drain on the system. The callous disregard for human life is a thing I'll never be able to wrap my head around.

Deporting American children who are sick with cancer is wrong. Those who rationalize this way are moral degenerates. Their values are completely alien to what America and liberal democracy is. I’d love to buy them a first class one way ticket to Russia, a place that’s more in alignment with their values.

What a shock. Isn’t it funny how the same Repubs who always whine about abortion, pedophilia, gay marriage, and “family values” are always the same ones paying for abortions, living double lives, and behaving like animals? It’s always like this. Those that howl the loudest…

Republican Texas state Representative Giovanni Capriglione co-authored the law that bans nearly all abortion in the state. And on Friday, the District 98 representative was publicly accused of having “funded several abortions for his own personal gain.”

The accusations against the legislator, who earlier this week ended his bid for an eighth term in office, come from Alex Grace, a former exotic dancer. On Friday, the right-wing publication Current Revoltpublished a video interview with Grace, in which she reportedly claims she had a yearslong affair with Capriglione, with their relationship beginning in 2004 when she was 18 years old.

Just a lovely man. Family values and very pro life!
