What's new

rondo and stockton's assist record

i went over rondo's stats and realised even if he breaks the assist record 14.5 apg
will it be impresive.
on a side note if he does it stockton avg 17.2ppg and 2.7steals. so far rondo has 11.4pgg and 2.2spg

suddenly rondos season does not seem impressive to me. on a side not i think it would be a good thing if stockton records get broken. since assist are underrated. by breaking it it would get some media attention. and some young kids watchoing the game today will see without scoring you can make a name for yourself in the nba by asisting

lol i just see it as good for the game we need another assist dominating guard(single seaosn record that is) as i think sotckton's carreer total record is unbreakable.

but as it stands now rondo wont break season record

Stockton's record will never be broken - season or career. For the most part the PG position has de-evolved.

Rondo's numbers are impressive; but he's in an unsual situation. He's a young guy surrounded by 3 veteran future Hall of Famers who have figured out how to play together by using Rondo as a catalyst. When they retire Rondo's points will go up and his assists will go down.

records were made to be broken..Thats why you win CHIPS cuz those cant be taken away. Newsflas everyone thought noone would break babe ruths hr record and roger maris did. You are a shallow person if you want noone to touch the record. Records meant to be broken. I agree with original poster that its good for the game and good for the kids to see

What are you talking about - players had been coming close to Maris' record for years. About a dozen players hit 50 or more home runs before the record was broken in 1998. Home runs were becoming more frequent even before the steriod scandal.

As a whole, assist numbers have gone down since the last time Stockton had 1K assists in a season. When Kidd and Nash retire in the next year or so, it will go down even more. Most PG's coming out of college today - Rose, Wall, etc are shoot first PG's. The game has gone away from the single high volume assist player.

And that's just single season - Stockton's career numbers are about as close to untouchable as any major record.

If my fav player growing up Magic Johnson wouldnt have been ran out of the nba from D*cks like Karl Malone he would have the record

No, I'm not.

You're sort of right. His leaving the NBA did involve a d*ck, so you're correct there. But technically speaking his lack of protection from the in and out offense is why he doesn't have the record.
