Rookie review

Hornacek curl -> Harp curl -> Hayward curl. Am I the only person excited by the prospect of this?

I feel like Im reading the Dnews take on Matt Harpring.
Except Hayward actually makes his layups. And he passes the ball. I still remember the season we started keeping track of assists for Harpring. Wasn't it like 2 weeks before Matt actually got one?

Korver Kurl? He made fantastic reads coming off the curl and would have won us game 3 against the Lakers if Boozer didn't have body oil residue on his hands.

I really like what Hayward did in the Summer league. He did a lot of those little things that just help a team win. Watching him it felt like he was one of those guys that could really dominate the game but his shot wasn't falling so it was doing all of the other things to make sure his team wins. But when really needed he could step up and get the job done himself. Like scoring the last 7 points in the second game and icing the win.

I think the pedestrian comment is a little unfair considering how few minutes he got in summer league. I admit he was a bit overly cautious, but if had gotten the same minutes as the others higher on the list his stat sheet would have been as full.

did someone really just say "and even the 4 in a few years"??? hayward is NOT a 4. he's 6'8" in shoes and he's built like gumby. that's not a bad thing, but it means he's definitely not a 4.
and yes, kk was a great decision-maker coming off that screen, but the jazz bigs were hardly ever ready for the pass. the number of balls that passed right in front of / went off the hands of booz, sap and fes in the playoffs is enough to make me cry. it's one of the reasons i say that chicago will probably put korver to better use than we ever did. oh well.

That makes sense, you know since they now have our main, and most fumble prone big. Also, they have that Noah kid who just has great hands.... I'm not seeing it. I agree with everything else, but not the Bulls statement. I guess if "better use" means camping outside the arc, then yes.

boozer isn't all that "fumble-prone." sap let just as many of those passes sail by him. but that's beyond the point. if the chicago staff can get their bigs LOOKING for that pass, then it opens a whole lot of options up and suddenly defenders can't hug korver as he comes around. i know the jazz coaches are smart enough to point that out to boozer, too, but they obviously didn't. maybe they just didn't realize they had that option with korver's vision.

i guess that's what you get from years of having guys like brewer and matthews run that play. horny made that little drop pass a ton, but since then it appears the jazz have forgotten it exists.

What? This makes no sense. How the **** do you know they didn't point it out to him? I guess they didn't point out that he should play better defense, too? That is a nauseating amount of conjecture. So, while you're at it, you might as well assume that an unproven head coach will be able to magically make Boozer be ready for a pass and play better D. How about a little intellectual honesty? Boozer isn't ready for those passes because he is looking for those rebounding stats.
