Roster Addition Wish List

There is more value in buying low on Porter than paying a premium for Beal.

Allen, multiple firsts, and expirings is good but doesn't have the one diamond asset. Lakers would likely do Hart, Ingram, a pick and that kinda kicks our ***.

I think if you offered up expirings and any bonus asset (Bradley, 2 seconds) it would get the job done. A three teamer where Ricky goes somewhere for equivalent salary and a second could help squeeze more out of the deal.

Burks, Thabo, Udoh, Bradley and multiple 2nd rounders for Otto Porter is the type of deal I want to see us try.

It completely clears Washington of Porter's salary for primarily expirings. They don't sacrifice either of the All Star guards. They could start Oubre and pay him in the summer without any worry. They are thin at C which means Bradley might get a chance there. Burks, Thabo and Udoh all probably help them this season make the playoffs.

Some might say that Washington could get a 1st rounder for Porter, but I just don't see that unless they take back some sort of not so great contract (Solomon Hill and his $13.3 million for next year for example).

Lakers wouldnt trade that **** for Kawhi, they arent doing it for Beal. They think they can sign players.

Swallowing the Hill contract is worth a first by itself imo. I think you are right. OP either forgot how to play or he is just done being Wall and Brooks whipping boy.

OP is a good all around player who is playing with two ball dominant guards who like to shoot the ball. If you put him with a pass first guy like Rubio and willing passers like Mitchell and Ingles, he could flourish here.

I'm not a big fan of his contract at all (which is why I think a 1st is unnecessary), but I do feel like he would help us. At a time when we have Mitchell, Ingles and Crowder on such bargain contracts, I want our front office to get bold.

Is Otto Porter really worth giving up our summer flexibility for? I don't think so unless we think he's going to become an elite stretch 4.

Let's take a look at stretch 4 options for the summer:

Niko Mirotic - seems like he's a great fit and happy at NOLA. He could become available if NOLA goes in a different direction. It is very unlikely he leaves NOLA but even more unlikely that he comes to Utah.

Tobias Harris - the Clippers have already said that keeping him is a priority. Could he just walk? Sure, but it is very unlikely he goes to us if he leaves at all.

Harrison Barnes - he could exercise his player option and leave for us. Very unlikely, but possible.

Paul Millsap - Denver could decline his option.

Marcus Morris

Markeiff Morris

Thaddeus Young - probably stays in Indy

I think it would be unwise to pass on Porter just because we hope to get Harris or Mirotic. I think Porter is a better player than everybody on this list no named Harris. Mirotic is a better shooter, but Porter is a better overall player. If I was a betting man, Young, Barnes, Mirotic and Harris stay put.

I'm still just not convinced the Jazz are going to be able to land any of Middleton, Harris or Niko in free agency. If they have a chance to add a player like Bradley Beal or even Otto Porter through a trade, I think they have to aggressively pursue it, even if they have to give up valuable assets in the process.

I understand Harris and Middleton possibly being unattainable, but didn’t Niko say last year that the jazz were the one team he wanted to play for?

I don’t think he’s a full time 4... he can play both. He’s not really assertive but he was money on catch and shoot threes. I think he’s a guy that could function really well in our system and can play a lot at the 4.

I would give up summer flexibility for him. I don’t think this years free agent market is one that presents good value for teams like us. I’d rather use our expiring contracts to get good players and look for FA value with the mid level exception.

It depends on how confident the front office is that they'll be able to convince one of their free agent targets to sign here.

I think he’d have interest in coming here but I’m not sure we are in pole position and I’m not sure paying Niko 4/100M+ is something we’d end up thinking is a home run. If NO thinks they can keep AD they will pay him.

One thing to keep in mind is there are some ****** teams with lots of cap space so FA will have some leverage. I don’t think you see a lot of value signings in the top tiers.
