Roster Addition Wish List

I agree. I'm pretty sure I know these answers, but just want to be sure:

- if we traded for Dinwiddie, we couldn't offer him the same extension correct? That means we would be trading for a guy who is unrestricted in the summer right?

- if Brooklyn does sign him to the extension, when is the earliest they could trade him? Isn't it middle of next season?

6 month wait time for both... so if we traded for him would he sign an extension in June? Nah... at that point he wants the extra money.
They can trade him 6 months after the extension.

Of course he isn't. But he's only gonna get better in the future. Even if he doesn't get better, he's gonna stick around in this league for a long time by just keeping his shooting. Krover isn't gonna be around for long we all know that. And neither is Allen if he continues to shoot 25% from deep.
Allen has barely played. You cant look at his stats.

I don't hate on the Korver trade. But it's not a trade we necessarily have to make have we drafted Shamet instead of Allen.

Korver and Shamet aren't in the same role or situation. If Allen was playing (out of necessity as shamet is) do we know that he wouldn't be shooting 37-38 percent on threes? Shamet plays off of Simmons and Embiid and doesn't get anywhere near the defensive attention that Korver does.

I don't think it is time to lament taking Allen over Shamet.

And why does anyone care about trading Burks?

The guy wasnt consistently good. Also he was constantly injured.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

For us, I would trade for him now if we had the guts to move on from Rubio. Its a gamble, but it seems like Dinwiddie is a loyal guy. He knows he might could get more in unrestricted free agency but he is willing to sign that extension.

Depends on cost for me. If it was a first then maybe... more than that and it's tough. For us it would make sense to wait on him. His low caphold would mean we could do business elsewhere and then come back and address his contract (even if we already agreed on price...just have to order the transaction). Being unrestricted worries me.

If Allen can't shoot over 33% against the end of bench players of other teams, I'm sure he won't be shooting over 37% on threes out of necessity. And like I said, Korver is the clear better shooter at the moment. But what about three years from now? Will he still be in this league? And don't act like we only need Korver/Klay level shooters. This is a team that has to give Ricky Rubio over 4 attempts from threes every night. Do you know how many easy wide open threes we blew this year?

Do you know what sample size is?

If he played well against the end of bench players on other teams, I'd call it a small sample size. But he has performed underwhelmingly. It's like a math test. It usually takes multiple evaluations to see where you at. But if you can't even pass the entry level, you're done.

lol wut?

Spencer Dinwiddie shot 30% from the field and 19% from 3 his rookie year. He's pretty damn good now. No one is done because of a slow start to their rookie year.

that's why he was done. In fact he was out of league for several months till a under-manned Nets picked him up, and he got better in time. It's like 99% of the players were out of the league that way and Dinwiddie was that 1% who got back from it. It's like calling math tests and college useless simply because Bill Gates dropped out of college. So I'm not sure the same thing can be said about Allen, who is also 2 full yrs older than Dinwiddie when he came in.
