It was different and should have been a flagrant... when others stop the break the guy usually has the ball and you reach across his body in an attempt to make a play... Two handed shove to the chest as a guy is releasing the ball is not a basketball play. Pelton tweeted about wind up and follow through and that is what they look at... He didn't "follow through" because his arms were already extended... Shoving the guy with two hands seems to indicate some wind up.

I have no clue what they are looking for, but if that would have been CP3 or JJ and Withey did it Doc and the other clippers would have lost their **** and it would have been called a flagrant.

There are different kinds of intentional fouls and if you intentionally foul someone in the air its a dangerous play... so much different than reaching in and grabbing someone as they dribble up the court. If instead of grabbing our guy came over and just shoved them with two hands putting them to the ground it would be a flagrant.

Interesting... my first thought was nah... but now I'm talking myself into it. He would have to guard someone though.

He might have some value because he can create shots... they aren't good shots, but that is something we are struggling with.

His defense has improved a lot. But honestly due to his lack of finishing at the rim or even getting to the line (can't believe he ever would have struggled at that) he probably shouldn't play. Though improved defense, rebounding, and corner threes might be enough to warrant some minutes.

Superior players? They got lucky Gobert went down and the Jazz have been controlling the pace of the series and that was in LA. But nope, must be an LA problem instead of a Utah strength.

Hayward has averaged 19.5 ppg, 8 rpg and 2.5 apg on %s of 100%FT, 42% from 3 and 36%FG Sure his FG% is low and he's in a dog fight but that doesn't look like being shut down to me. Stats don't support that theory either.

Defense? Clippers are shooting 48.5%FG and 31.8% on 3s. Wow, another mixed bag. No disaster? Not "complete trash"?

Jazz have shot 41 FTs to the Clippers 25. So the Jazz are winning that metric as well.

All of this when both games were in LA and it's 1-1. Next two games are in Utah.

There isn't truth here as much as there is the continuation of a years long narrative by this poster of trashing the Jazz at all costs.

I understand that he has a reputation of trashing Jazz etc.

But Hood has not really progressed - plateaued. Lyles has regressed as has Burks. Injuries etc and second year blues can perhaps explain X and Lyles etc. But it is a true statement they are not trusted at this stage.

Hayward is going to become a max player. To that extent he is not having the impact commensurate with such a salary/status. It's ok, doesn't mean he is trash. He is in a dogfight.

CP3 and Blake are clearly the best players on the court. DJ is up there as well. Without Gobert, there is a talent difference.

JJ has always been a bit of a ball hog. But as poster suggested, he is effective so that is accepted.
What shouldn't be accepted is JJ's hopeless defense. According to DRPM he has ranked 67/81 among SF this year. I can only imagine how much worse he has been at PF. Jazz need his offense so it is permissible. But if you struggle on the defensive end - why can't it be called out?

The interior defense has been trashy. Game 2 was bad in that regard. There are obvious reasons to explain this!

Jazz winning the free throw battle is a sign that the refs may have been bailing them out thus far!


Anyway, as I said. I think there was some truth in there. I was making no comment on trolliness etc. Was taking the post on its merits.

The future of this franchise is Gobert, Hayward, Hood. and Favors if he gets fully healthy again. They are still young. Their average age is 25. None of them have peaked yet.

Not to mention a crap ton of picks and whatever DL does. He put in work this offseason.

Jazz have gone 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s in wins last 4 seasons. First time that has ever happened in the NBA. With decent assets, improving coach and young stars that are still getting better.

You keep harping about "developing our youth" Well the Jazz did, and are still doing, exactly that and got 51 wins despite crippling injuries, got the 5th seed and are headed into Utah 1-1 as a result.

Hood does not necessarily form part of the future of the franchise. Nor does Favors.

They really need to make a decision on Exum in the next 12 months. Jazz need to get to the line and penetrate more. Jump shooting and safe play won't get a chip.

My two cents worth.

And perhaps being turned into jump shooters.

Lyles is a highly skilled big man who too often has been required to 'space'the floor.
X has made considerable strides in terms of getting to the rim, but has struggled on occasions to remain in control and finish with consistency. These are talented individuals with high offensive ceilings.

But turning them into jump shooters exclusively - is a mistake.

They have been. I agree on needing to attack the basket more. Jordan has been forcing them out of the paint.

My point on the Hood and Favors is that those are some of our main players and they are young. It's not like they're in their 30s. They ARE the youth.

This next season is huge for Exum IMO. I don't have to much of a problem with anything you've said here.

This is far different from the tripe constantly posted by M.A.
