The Colorado homer in me is going for Burks. Though even if I weren't I still think I'd go for the better offensive prospect. I'd be happy with Singleton at that pick too though.

I would rather have a good defender at the 3, that can shoot the 3 than a slicing 2 whose shooting is questionable.
I do like both players though, but I would feel better about Burks if he had a better shot.

I think he is considered to be a pretty good mid range shooter, if that matters to you at all.

And I wouldn't be so quick to call Singleton a better 3pt shooter than Burks. If you look at their career averages from 3, they are pretty similar.

Burks big drop in % could be attributed to higher usage rate ala Hayward's sophomore numbers.

I just think Burks will learn to shoot well enough, he's a gifted athlete and he probably has a slightly better head on his shoulders. That said, I think Singleton will probably be an elite defender, the kind who could guard Durant.

Or, ala Jimmer's Senior year? Should be the same argument.
Burks dropped from 54% FG and 35% 3pt to 47% FG and 29% 3pt because of usage.
Jimmer dropped from 46% FG and 44% 3pt to 45% FG and 40% 3pt because of usage.

By the way the FG% includes 3pt shots into the equation. If you want to look at 2pt shots you will have to remove the 3pters from the equation which will increase the FG%. Basically Burks shot 51% from 2, and Jimmer shot 49% from 2.

I was just curious... but I still think 30% from 3 is not good. Burks mid-range game does bear out as good statistically.

Maybe so, but Singleton's percentages got better this last year by 7%. Burks got worse by 6%.
I don't want to ignore the trends, even if the career averages are close.

It does matter, and I agree, I think he will have a good mid-range game in the NBA as he has proven he has with the Buffaloes.
I also know we need a 2 that can hit a 3, which is why I am concerned.
If he could hit the 3 he would go in the top 3...... but I also realize if we take a flier on him and he learns it he could be the steal of the draft if he's taken at 12 or after.

This is a VERY tough one for me. Really like both of them. My edge goes to Burks though...the Jazz have long lacked a wing scorer of his caliber.
