Folks, if we indeed lose George Hill, then we lose a GREAT fit for the Jazz. Remember, the 31 year old George Hill was traded for Tauren 'Whodafuh' Prince. At the time George Hill was an underappreciated point in Indiana. When we got him, about half of ya'll were crying about it because you figured the draft pick would be worth more. Well, Tauranwhodafuh sucks. In fact, there was almost no player drafted after #12 who would have been a good player besides the surprise diamond Brogdan who came late in the draft.
Instead, we got Hill and I sploooooged all summer... franklin lit his log on fire...
Quin Snyder made a Hill into a stud. Hill helped lead the Jazz to the second round of the playoffs IN SPITE of only playing 49 games. Now he turned down $80 million for 4 years and we got Rubio (arguably significantly better by most standards) for $28 million. We save $52 million, get early bird rights, get the starting point guard who fueled one of the top offensive teams in the league. We get their motor and they get Jeff Teague (potentially) as his replacement. The same Jeff Teague that didn't make Indiana work.
If Quin could take Hill and make him into a borderline all star with only 49 games who was able to turn down $80/4 year deal... then what can we do with Rubio? Remember that even with Hill we were limited more than anyone wanted to ISO basketball. This year with JUAN STOCKTON at the point, we are going to be able to play that Euro style ball that we all loved when it clicked.
PS. This is the same Rubio who absolutely torched us on our home floor when we suffered what I remember to be our biggest loss at home and I think our biggest loss of the season.
PSS... we lost nothing to do it and saved enough to potentially sign an all star free agent! We actually saved $$$. LOTS and LOTS of $$$ while upgrading the position.

If Rubio is the plan and Hill is gone, I think that's the writing on the wall for Favors. I'd expect him to be traded sooner than later.
They clearly did the Rubio deal with an eye towards the future, not making a dumb trade for a 1 year rental.

He is joking that this deal spells the end of Hayward. In reality it would only be 29.5 million, as that would be Hayward's amount in the first year of his max (I believe).
