Rubio traded to Jazz

I'm not certain but I think Jason kidd made a big improvement in his 3 point shooting later in his career.

He became way more consistent, but he had shown really good 3pt shooting ability sporadically year to year throughout his career.

I'm nowhere in the least comparing a hof legend to Rubio, but Stockton was never known for his scoring, he was legendary for getting others involved and being a floor general. Rubio brings a similar aspect, again hes no Stock, but he brings a poor man's Stock game.

U must not be old enough to have watched Stockton play? Tell me if I'm wrong. He was a dead eye from three and midrange and even though he was 6-1 he was probably as good at finishing at the rim as IT for Boston. He just preferred to set up his teamates, but when the jazz needed him to he would often openly look to score and take over a game that way. Just watch the last 5 or so minutes of the "Stockton sends the Utah jazz to the NBA finals" game. He took over that game on offense. He could've been a 20pt+ scorer for his career if he had wanted to.

As far as asset management goes, this trade was gold. Essentially, Enes Kanter and Taurean Prince for GH and RR.

Stockton was a crap 3 pt shooter until he was 27. Before 89-90 his 3p% was .182, .133, .179, .358, .242

Nah, trade Stockton, he sucks. We put 5 years into a guy that cant shoot and is barely a starter. Its time to move on am I right? I mean he is okay but we will just be an average team with an undersized pg that isnt that athletic and cant shoot. We cant afford to pay him much. Maybe if he is our backup for cheap we should keep him.

It happens! Great! I just don't think it's smart to assume the exceptions that prove the rule occur, but **** me I guess.

Also, era is a thing. There were very few high-percentage 3-point shooters back in the day (and the trend of improving shooting league-wide is also a thing, subsequently). Certainly relative to now anyway. Also, if you think Ricky Rubio bears comparison to hall of famers, then great.

Trust me, no one would love for me to be wrong more than me.

Stockton had a funny jumper, especially early on. He kicked his legs up behind himself rather than extending. Doing that adds a hitch. Try it, jump and extend your toes like most shooters do then jump and kick your heels behind you. You will feel a slight jerk doing the second. It is kinda amazing imo that he worked it out and was able to become a good shooter. Reps and reps and reps I guess.

I said I'm not comparing the two, all I'm saying is assist lead to points. I was fine either way with if we brought Hill back, but he's more of a combo guard than point guard. It was rare to see Hill get 10 assist, but Rubio will have plenty.

I just pulled up a random month (February) and compared the two. In 10 games Hill went 0 out of 10 games with 10 or more assist while Rubio went 8 out of 12. 2 game difference but that's 41 assist to 112.

I should've known better than to bring Stockton into it, but I was only trying to make the point that I feel Rubio brings an aspect we haven't had in a while. A pg who can run the pick and roll, play tough defense, and get others involved. I think every player has something to gain, weather it be more open looks for the shooters like Hood(maybe), Hayward (hopefully) and Ingles (definitely) , or finding Rudy or DFavs(maybe) on the block when they create a create a crease. Something i feel we have lacked in the past.
