What's new

Rudy at P3: 12'3.5'' max vertical reach

Length, smarts, timing wins out everytime. That's what Mark Eaton did. Rudy's a better, longer athlete but he has similiar timing instincts. If he could get to Marks' anticipation skills he could be the best of all time.
Different era. The 3PT shot was still a novelty when Eaton came into the league. The game was also more physical so outside shots could be contested. Jazz forced players into the middle, where Mark was waiting. Not saying Eaton wasn't a great shot-blocker. He was amazing. But I'm not sure I'd call his anticipation or timing skills elite. When you're 7'4" you're going to block a LOT of shots, especially when teams aren't shooting 30% of their shots from beyond the arc.

Agreed. Eaton's timing was great because his hands were in the way almost all of the time. The dude was ginormous!

Oh my god.
That picture looks fake. Is that an actual un-photoshopped picture?

Eaton was a monster

That's not photoshopped. Eaton was 3-4 inches taller than Gobert and 70lbs heavier. He was a monster.

His opponents certainly wish he was photoshopped. Just check out his video highlights if you doubt any of it. The amazing thing is that he could rarely even get off the bench in college. The Jazz picked him in the 4th round (which the NBA doesn't even come close to bothering to hold anymore) but then Frank Layden did a brilliant job of coaching to his strengths and his career took off.

Looks like eaton is posing for a camera with the sonics player off in the distance to make eaton look much bigger. Lol
