Rudy Gobert pre-season

I want to see how he does against bigger slabs of beef.

You and me both, honey!

All players, but especially bigs, always look better in the preseason.

Ummm some players look like **** and then play well, so not all players look better in preseason.

To be fair, Rudy wasn't facing a conga line of players in the preseason from Portland, Phoenix, and a short handed Clipper's squad that was going to be able to stop him. I want to see how he does against bigger slabs of beef. If I were Rudy, I would leave enough money on the table to make sure that he gets to keep Diaw as a package deal.

To be fair, Rudy did play against DAJ/Blake and Portland's normal center rotation in the first pre-season games. Then he crapped on Alex Len in both Phoenix games.

He had 15, 5, and 3 against the Clipper starters which would be his worst game. It is just one game though.

Saying Rudy needs a greater level of competition is correct but there is no known such competition in this universe.

But the point is, Rudy has shown some offensive shots he's never had and his FT form is different. Jazz don't need Rudy to be a 20/10 guy. On offense, he just needs to keep opponents honest. If the opposing center drops off to double team, Rudy needs to be able to get the pass and score. And finish games...last year Wuin pulled him because he knew opponents were just going to put him on the FT line.

So from what I can gather he is averaging 12.6 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, and 22.1 points per game per 36 while shooting 63% from the floor and 74.5% from the line.

Pretty fantastic albeit in a small sample size.

74.5% from the line immediately takes away one of the few strategic options teams have against Rudy.

Big props to the big man for working on that part of his game.
