Rudy Gobert's "Jump Shot"

I don't like that finger roll he does either. But I love the hook shot he attempted a couple of times. He should work on that move.

Just looking at his form, he ha the same problem as he does on his FT's. His elbow doesn't extend through his shot. He from way too far away though, he can probably shoot it 5' closer and still not have much of a contest from his defender.
I also hate his release point, but that isn't a big deal since no one is going to be guarding him outside of 10 feet.

You missed the 'oh my' from Bolerjack. Hilarious.

Remember when we had a video of him hitting a three. And some people (Dalabro) were trying to tell us that he was gonna develop a jump shooting game?

:^O

He can't back down his defender to get in position for a hook. Just about any PF and center is strong enough to keep him out of the paint.

Him trying new things on O is a good thing. You want him to stay focus on D where he knows exactly what he does, but if on O he tries a couple of things a game, ie try to execute things he's been practicing, it's a good thing. Sure it was ugly, but he tried it, and that's good !

Don't jump to any conclusions over silly **** like this though.. Keep in mind Dikembe Mutombo didn't even make his NBA debut til he was 25.. Rudy's very far from a finished product.

Yeah, I want him to try more of it, just a bit closer and hit some rim next time. Even though Gobert is a very confident player, I think his offense is one area where he does let doubt creep in to his mind.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Baby steps. If he can develop that shot, defenses can't sag off of him and it helps open up more offensive opportunities for everyone. Wish he'd have been a step closer, but I don't have any issues with him trying. With his work ethic, I think he'll eventually get to the point where he can hit that shot.

Gobert gon hit threes one day and I'll be here feedin y'all crow
