Rumor: Jazz want to - and can - acquire Milsap. May trade Favors in draft day deal.

Jazz rumors always pan out.

Pretty sure this is already a done deal since Jazz like to leak stuff to the media and fans and then do it.

This seems pretty smart to me depending on exactly what the Jazz can get for Favors. If it is indeed something like Favors, Burke, #12 for Calderon and #4 it is IMO a solid thought process if they are targeting Porzingis(if they view him as a Dirk level player) and have a strong indication they can sign Millsap. Millsap IMO is a better fit for Gobert and if Porzingis turns out to be Nowitzki reincarnated not only are the Jazz in position to compete for the playoffs this year, but great shape to be title contenders in years to come. Plus the Jazz gets a veteran(foreign) PG to help Exum grow.
If Porzingas flops and Millsap goes back to Atlanta then you have just flat out ****ed up your franchise for 10 years. You make this trade and you potentially piss off Hayward and Gobert. You are rebuilding all over again. Congratulations you are the Clippers of the 80's and 90's. You downgrade PF, you get a bust pick, and you lose the other 2 players who really matter on this team. Not in any way worth that risk.

No way do the Jazz trade Favs without knowing the status of Sap. I still think they will go after Sap and they will coexist.

OK and if Porzingis is Dirk with the ability to protect the rim. Having to mobile 7footer that can defend and one that's automatic from behind the 3pt line. This trade wouldn't be with out risk. My point is the reward may be worth the risk if you're DL.

No - but it has no relevance to the discussion over whether A) Jody's source is accurate, B) whether he's sourced it twice with two credible individuals to be able to report it (journalistic ethics.)

For what it's worth, this Millsap rumor has been going on for weeks now. I believe it was initially reported by Andy Larsen who had heard it from a source.

Also Boobs - I really couldn't care less about reputation, but giving me a neg for calling out the fact that there's absolutely no reason to be attacking a beat reporter's struggles with weight instead of the credibility of his sources is totally nuts.

Oh no. I didn't report it at all. I reported the opposite of that.

My article from today, for example: Ignore them. The Jazz love Favors and his extremely team-friendly contract, and want to continue the on-court chemistry displayed at the end of last season, when the team was on a 50-win pace. Additionally, they know that even if Favors were off the roster, Millsap wouldn't be likely to sign in Utah: after all, why would Millsap leave contending Atlanta, who will pay great amounts of money to keep him, to go to Utah, where Millsap's already been? Yes, Utah will make the call on Day 1 of the NBA's free agency to Millsap's representation to register their interest, but they certainly wouldn't make a trade involving Favors for Millsap's sake.

Chance of that happening? Definitely not in the Jazz favor. So you take a good team and go all in with a two of a kind hoping you beat the rest of the table. If it pays off, great. If its NBA 2K great go for it. You can always adjust the rating later. If its real life and you own a team you dont take that kind of risk. If he busts, which is more likely than being a star or even being a starter in this league, then this team is gone. You cant have a losing team in this market that long. This team would lose so much money. Besides the ownership DL is out of a job if he messes up this trade and probably does not get a chance at GM again taking that big of a risk and messing it up.

Yah, it was Checketts that reported it first a couple of weeks ago.
